Oh dear God that was painful to watch.
It had the potential to be at the very least passable, but Carrie Underwood's acting was just horrible. I've seen less wooden acting in high school productions. They clearly cast her as a recognizable name and a way to market the show, but in the end, she was, by FAR, the worst thing about it. It's a shame too, because this probably killed the chances for potential future tv adaptations of other musicals. As someone who does not have the funds or proximity to see many live shows, I welcome and anticipate film and tv versions. ![]() Quote:

Definitely not true. In the 80s/90s NBC routinely got at least triple the 18-49 rating and millions more viewers from shows like Cheers, Friends, Seinfeld, ER, and the Cosby Show. For example, season seven of Friends, which was the show's lowest-rated season, still averaged a 14.2 rating and 22.1 million viewers per new episode. Those ratings are unheard of in today's TV atmosphere (excluding big sporting events) as there's so much more competition as well as fewer people watching TV overall.
