Warner Bros Castle Rock: The Complete Second Season (2019)

There seems to be little interest for this given no thread and I assume it's also why there's no 4K for this season.
Curious has anyone seen the second season and is it worthy of getting on blu-ray?

It was better than the first season in my opinion.

I didn't like it much. Lizzy Caplan is awesome as Annie Wilkes, but otherwise, it's pretty lousy. Just my opinion, obviously; a lot of people seem to have liked it.

IMHO first season good, second season average.

There are two main storylines—Annie Wilkes’s, which is mostly great, and Pop Merrill’s, which was a tough slog most of the time. Overall, I preferred the first season, but season two is still worthwhile.

Only a couple of eps in and already it's a very different beast from S1, you're right that the stuff with Annie is golden but the rest is meh.

Typical Warners Blu-ray encode, it's clean enough as there's no grain to worry about but there's some nasty banding in the darker spots, especially when it fades up/down from black. Such a shame there's no UHD but I think we were lucky to even get a BD, that there's no foreign language options on the BD at all (unlike S1) is a big ol' sign that it mustn't have sold very well abroad and it wouldn't have taken much less to pull the plug on a US release I think. Still, there's always WAC I suppose.

Yeah, S2 was definitely a different beast to S1, but I enjoyed them both in their own ways. I was so pleasantly surprised to get a 4K release of S1 and had my fingers crossed for the same for S2, but at least we got BD.

Both seasons have something big to offer, imo. I don't very often watch tv shows or mini series anymore because what is put out is garbage. This is one of those gems that I really hope continues though. Now if they could just announce season 3, that would be great

I take it back, this is far from 'meh'! I enjoyed that even more than S1.

I heard that from a lot of people. I’m not one of them. The Pop Merrill story didn’t curry my interest until the last two episodes. That took a LONG time to gain traction. The resolution of Annie Wilkes’ storyline, along with the episode that looked into how she became a mother in the first place, though, were choice moments. For me, season two had high highs and low lows, and was altogether just more inconsistent than season one.

It's a well-made series, and has consistently good acting, but the writing is typically awful. And it's got about as much to do with King's work as The Lawnmower Man does.

And at this point with the show being canceled I doubt it ever will. Only very slim chance I could see is as a Warner Archive release at this point if enough were asking for it.
