![]() ![]() There seems to be little interest for this given no thread and I assume it's also why there's no 4K for this season. Curious has anyone seen the second season and is it worthy of getting on blu-ray? |

I didn't like it much. Lizzy Caplan is awesome as Annie Wilkes, but otherwise, it's pretty lousy. Just my opinion, obviously; a lot of people seem to have liked it.

There are two main storylines—Annie Wilkes’s, which is mostly great, and Pop Merrill’s, which was a tough slog most of the time. Overall, I preferred the first season, but season two is still worthwhile.

Only a couple of eps in and already it's a very different beast from S1, you're right that the stuff with Annie is golden but the rest is meh.
Typical Warners Blu-ray encode, it's clean enough as there's no grain to worry about but there's some nasty banding in the darker spots, especially when it fades up/down from black. Such a shame there's no UHD but I think we were lucky to even get a BD, that there's no foreign language options on the BD at all (unlike S1) is a big ol' sign that it mustn't have sold very well abroad and it wouldn't have taken much less to pull the plug on a US release I think. Still, there's always WAC I suppose. |

Both seasons have something big to offer, imo. I don't very often watch tv shows or mini series anymore because what is put out is garbage. This is one of those gems that I really hope continues though. Now if they could just announce season 3, that would be great

I heard that from a lot of people. I’m not one of them. The Pop Merrill story didn’t curry my interest until the last two episodes. That took a LONG time to gain traction. The resolution of Annie Wilkes’ storyline, along with the episode that looked into how she became a mother in the first place, though, were choice moments. For me, season two had high highs and low lows, and was altogether just more inconsistent than season one.

It's a well-made series, and has consistently good acting, but the writing is typically awful. And it's got about as much to do with King's work as The Lawnmower Man does.
