Default BDP + Internet = New Trailers?

I hope I'm posting this in the right place, apologises if not!

I have a Sony BDP-350 and when I move into my new house for Uni in a couple weeks I'll finally be able to but an ethernet cable in the back of the player and then into a wireless router.

Will this automatically upload any software updates? Also, a friend told me that if its connected to the internet, it'll retrieve the latest trailers associated with a film and play them instead of those pre loaded on the disc. Is this true?

Thanks in advance for your help!

That is largely true, though it always depends on the specific BD and player in use. Many players can have their firmware updated over ethernet, though usually it is a process you initiate yourself. Look into the player's menus after hooking it up to the Internet.

AFAICR Universal's BDs load "fresh trailers" and don't have any on the disc... or they do and bypass them when they are outdated. Paramount titles (specifically The Last Airbender and Iron Man 2) load the same trailers from the internet, which makes it more frustrating. (not only are they outdated, they take foreeeeeeveeeeeeeer to load, sometimes).
