Default No Neilsen Thread at AVS?

I guess that sales are no longer legitimate discussion at AVM$? Here's a novel idea, let people discus what they want, and when someone gets out of hand ban them. But I guess when you have a topic you know four or five people will cause trouble with, just get rid of the discussion instead of them. Well, so much for my hopes of a change.

A large tumbleweed actually rolled by me over there a little while ago.

I saw that poll there a while back and figured it would have been closed a long time ago. But you know how some of those AVSrs love to worship those poles (polls, get it??)

Seems like a good test would be whether they would allow a poll in the HD DVD forum asking if people will be going neutral because of the $399 PS3 with free Underworld: Evolution and The Fifth Element at Frys (with an option to vote that the $399 PS3 got them to go neutral, but not the specific deal at Frys). Pretty much analogous to that poll in the Blu-ray forum, so seems like either both polls should stay, or both polls should go (if somebody started one about the $399 PS3).

EDIT: I see that the poll above disappeared, so no reason to create a similar poll as a test.

hehehe
It seem like that new member '4Blu' spelled out thread name for mod,
1)It had 100$ Price tag
2)It had HD-DUD player

Both didn't belong in a Blu-Ray player forum.

Their rules say you can discuss sales numbers as long as they have a legitimate, unbiased third party source. Nielsen is named specifically. FWIW.

Edit: Actually, they changed the rules since I looked yesterday. Apparently this is now forbidden as well "as it seems people do not even agree where the numbers come from" (quoted from AVS). Apparently Nielsen isn't legit enough and the mods/owners at AVS lack the balls to stand up to anyone anymore.

The inmates have officially taken over the asylum.

It shouldn't have been this way. They should have deleted the HD forum and kept the blu-ray and HD DVD forums. Then kill anyone who steps out of their own forums. Notice how the trolling is almost non-existent on the PS3 and X-box forums? Fan-boys don't mix.

I think it's funny that the Neilsen's are good enough for the entire industry, but not for a few fanboys/paid shills on AVS. So all this talk of cracking down and they cave in 24 hours.

I'm beginning to lend more and more credence to the HD DVD biased argument against AVS. That was always the feeling, but I think it's being confirmed. "Don't even quote real numbers, or else our sponsors get pissy!"

It was really a great idea that you came up with, Grubert. Nobody can take it away, although Nielsen removed a lot of fun by not publishing the sub-decimal percentage points.

It's a damn shame that people aren't even allowed to discuss facts there anymore.

They have opened up the guessing on Nielson again but have kept the offical one closed. Now I am really confused about what they are trying to do.

They wanted the bickering to stop.

The prediction threads were remarkably civil, in fact probably the only civil threads in the common board. With the main thread gone, I'm not sure how long they can be kept civil though.

Do some research. It's not at all difficult to find out your answer on your own.

Well I can tell you why the HD DVD fans don't like it. Sales don't lie. It's really that simple.
