United Kingdom Deadwood - Complete Series???

Hi,

Can anybody tell me the difference between the UK and US BluRay release of Deadwood?

Are the episodes edited differently?

Regards

The main difference is that the US release exists, and the UK release doesn't

Paramount hold the distribution rights to Deadwood in the UK, as opposed to Warner Home Video in the US, so there's really no telling if or when it'll ever be released here. I'd imagine this difference in distributors is also the reason the UK DVDs didn't have any extras (I'm guessing the US extras weren't licensed to Paramount), and why the US Blu-ray is Region A locked (to discourage importing into territories where Paramount are responsible for the releases.)

I've got it though, it is a very nice set, so it'll be a shame if it doesn't come out.

Oopps!!!

I was adding a few movies to my Amazon wishlist and got carried away.

Between looking them up here and general googling I got confused with what was released and to be released at some point.

Thank nametag.

I've noticed that over the last few months Paramount have released this on Blu-ray in Germany (in individual seasons) - hopefully that means a UK release may happen sometime soon. I don't know though if the German discs contain the extras found in the US Complete series boxset and if it's the same transfer or not.

I was thinking the exact same thoughts. Yeah, I too suspect that it will be released over here sometime this year after the Netherlands and German releases. I would be surprised if it wasn't. I'm happy to wait for a UK release but I too would like to know if the German releases are the same transfer as the US one?

Would love to see this series again, thought it was really well made, and i'm not even that big on westerns.

Australia is finally getting it on Blu in March apparently, so you could always import it. But I'd say it can't be far behind for the UK, if not around the same time.

Just wish they'd get on with The Sopranos...

I'm thinking Paramount will pull another 'Rosemarys Baby' stunt and release it everywhere else except the UK/Ireland and then eventually release it like a year later.

Individual seasons have been trickling out in Scandinavia too.

That's a shame Hope any UK release doesn't follow suit. The US boxset - laden with extras - is region locked

I can pretty much tell you for sire right now that any UK blu release here of the show will also be barebones. Paramount obviously don't own any rights for the extras

Special may be barebones and that's fine by me but what about the transfers? Do they use the same transfer as the US one? I'm definitely holding out for the UK version either way.

Thanks for the heads up on the 10% off. Though if you already had it pre-ordered like me it won't apply automatically, gotta cancel and start a new order so you can put the code in at checkout.

What's exclusive about the Zaavi set? I am presuming it's just they'll have it exclusively for a while before wider distribution. There are Irish certificates on the cover and Zaavi don't have stores in Ireland so it will be in every store soon enough.
