Default Black bars and tv size

Well I have a 46in hdtv and I got a blu-ray player recently, and there are black bars. No surprise there at all.

My question is, The movies never fill up the whole screen, its like wasted space, so, If I got a...lets say 32in tv or something like that. Would it fill up the 32 in tv? OR at least almost fill it? or would it shrink with it and just be the same amount of wasted space but the picture would just be smaller because of the tv size.

Sort of hard to explain what I'm trying to say. I hope you guys got it.

If your new HDTV is 16:9 most movies should fill the screen completely, with 2.35:1 movies having a black bar at the top and bottom.

Did you set your player up by telling it you have a 16x9 display. It may think you have a 4:3 and be putting the 16:9 picture in the center.
