Default Sony strikes official PS4 headset deal with Turtle Beach

Sony has signed a deal with gaming headphone manufacturer Turtle Beach to create a line of offical headsets for PlayStation 4.

Eurogamer reports that the new headgear will be fully revealed this summer, with launch planned for fall. Headsets will also carry support for Vita devices.

The deal means Turtle Beach will be able to take full advantage of PS4 connectivity, indicating the upcoming headsets will likely be wireless – but nothing has been officially confirmed on that front as of yet.

PS4 made news this week for several reasons: Sony announced that the console has sold past 4.2m units, took the lid off of cloud-gaming service PlayStation Now, and revealed massive figures related to PS4 user livestreaming.

I guess this could explain Sonys reluctance to add in the headset support via firmware updates.
