Default The BS comes thick and fast

Wow, the HD DVD promotinal group are producing the BS daily now http://www.tech.co.uk/home-entertain...eid=1402030689

Disc's won't play comment is classic, maybe they should mention the problems of the A2.

About time the BDA started giving some of it back

That's pretty bad...the information is bias and misleading...especially when it says that the PS3 won't be profile 1.1 (then mentions afterwards that it will be via the updates)

Um ... I hate to ask this. But can you upgrade the older standalones? I thought you could with firmware via a disc. If that's not true, then I'm really glad now I bought the PS3.

That's a question I've had in my head as well.

I have no idea, I have a PS3 as well so I'm not worried about it for myself, but I feel bad for other people if they cannot.

I have a PS3, so theres no reason to worry (features will be added later)

BUT if I had a standalone:
Id much rather have GOOD movies that I could ACTUALLY WATCH than have special features.

HDDVD has so many issues with discs not working its rediculous that people even bother with it. Who cares if they have special features if the movies dont even work?

I think the HDDVD guy forgot to mention that their spec is final and the combo discs still don't work.

I agree, the HD camp thinks that Special Features are going to save them , I could care less about them 'cause I never have time to watch them.

But it's a complete fabrication that they will not play on older units. My understanding is that it will not stop disc's playing though some interactive features will not be available.

Anyone in agreement with this?

Same old BS they always spit out... the HD-DVD camp is really pathetic, having to now resort to fabricating numbers and the like to make themselves look better, and never giving the sources of their numbers. The Paramount 190k Transformers claim has NO source for their claim, the HD-DVD claim that the attach rate for BD is 0.6 while HD-DVD is close to 4 also has no source and includes the PS3 as a BD player while before they did not. They are trying to make themselves look better than they are, and BD look worse. The fact is, they make themselves look really bad by fabricating numbers and lying about these things. They assume consumers are stupid, and perhaps their consumers are, but most are not and do not fall for these schemes.

Every article like this is more ammunition for Blu-ray.

Believe me, if they had good numbers/news, they'd release it......they haven't.

Take a look at the Panasonic BD30 review threads over at AVS. There seems to be a lot of people that have gone "Purple" now that the new Panny profile 1.1 player is out. This player is generating a lot of noise over there. It seems there have been quite a few HD-DVD fans lying in wait for this feature/price set to come along and sway them to go Blu. An interesting development to keep an eye on.

HD-DVD PG has nothing left but to mudsling. Cheap players and give-aways did even make a dent in BD's positioning.

The BD's should (will) still play fine you just don't get the special features, but who cares PiP..........you really want some one talking through the hole movie & to make it even worse there's a picture in the corner,CRAP just CRAP

First off, the movie and menus will play fine. Only the special 1.1 features will not work. Second, MOST players can be upgraded one way or another. And since there are no 1.1 discs out yet, there is no rush to get the players up-to-date until January. There is no question about the PS3 supporting 1.1, and the whole "even the PS3 can't play it" aspect is BS since the movies aren't even out yet.
Sad pathetic HD-DVD fanboys claiming we should sue BDA? What morons. No wonder they support HD-DVD...

The new 1.1 features are designed so that a 1.0 player cannot access them anyways. They will have access to modified 1.0 special features. So in reality the 1.0 crowd wont be missing all that much, and wont have any idea what they're missing to be honest (since they cant access it). The movies will ALL play fine.

Im glad someone from the BDA stomped on that HDDVD attach rate article.

To be honest it seems like no one at that website has a mind of their own. They just regurgitate information without any analysis at all.
