Default King's Quest (Fall 2015)

Damn this game looks amazing. Gotta admit I've never played a KQ's game before. Looks like my type of game though with the fantasy element.

Looks cool. The art direction reminds me of The Hobbit cartoon from back in my younger days.

A blast from the past...no doubt about that. I think I completed KQ I - IV and maybe V. Back in the day, it was definitely my favorite game and series. Roberta (and Ken) were so amazing at the time. Kings Quest, Colonel's Bequest, Phantasmagoria, etc... I'm not sure how I feel about them trying to revisit this though.

impressive cast! Zelda Williams was great in The Legend of Korra, she should do more voice acting

Never played a King's Quest before, but trying new games and genres is what I'm all about this gen

Same.

Phantasmagoria, let's get that back on the docket!

Yeah, great games on PC.
I had one for Sega Master System also.

Space Quest was good too. Hero's Quest was interesting. Remember Police Quest?
Manhunter NY and LA(or SF?) were cool. Sierra Online games knew how to make a great interactive, puzzle solving adventure.

This could be very good.

Sierra was one of the best PC computer game developers back in the day which unfortunately slowly declined after Ken and Roberta sold the company. It's great to see The Odd Gentleman have worked and gotten Ken's and Roberta's blessing on this game thus I'll have to pick this one up once released.

On a tangent ... here's Ken's blog about his adventures around the world since retirement:

Also, a group of hard core fans made the King's Quest: The Silver Lining (PC) game which can be found here:

Absolutely and the Space Quest creators are currently making a new space adventure which was funded through a Kickstarter campaign:

Also, Jane Jensen the creator of Gabriel's Knight also had a Kickstarter campaign for her Pinkerton Road company. They developed Moebius along with a 20th Anniversary Edition remake of Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers.

Oh my...I didn't think to ever see this title in this generation. I never got to play the King's Quest games back in the day, but I'll be down for this.

While I really love the art style of the original King's Quest games from Sierra, this looks interesting in terms of art direction, though a little more exaggerated character design.

In case anybody is wondering about the UK store complete collection pack. It comes with 4 PS4 themes and a playable Extra 'Epilogue' exclusive to complete collection. Epilogue will be available later when released obviously but I found this to be a great deal instead of Season Pass. You pay one time 54.99 USD (same price as the first chapter + season pass) but will get free themes and playable extra content.

I took screenshots of included themes so you guys will have an idea how they look.

I am in love with this game. Didn't play much and still in the beginning but oh man isn't it gorgeous. Looks breathtakingly beautiful. The hand painted scenery blended with amazing graphics. Never seen anything like this. If you liked games like Trine 2 you are in for a treat. The whole atmosphere is like you are in some Disney adventure cartoon. Loved the humor element too. Here are a couple of initial screenshots:

Thought the voice was Christopher Llyod.

I didn't finish the first chapter yet but the game IMO bests both Square's & Telltales episodic games (I wouldn't yet say Story) with not only the visuals but with the games performance. 0 Lag, no screen tearing. Ok I noticed a very slight pause during an auto save.. So not flawless but close enough. It does feel more like a Disney cartoon then a generic one & there is a lot of envolvement with gameplay vs story.

Don't regret my purchase but I got ripped off from PSN.

They had a pre-order up for the Complete Collection awhile ago which I bought & in the description lists all episodes + epilogue for $39.99. When the game released, the Complete Collection was "Unavailable" & after looking around some I found my purchase. It was under "Season Pass"

So I had to buy the first episode. Nice.

Thanks. I wonder how big the world is to explore.

In King's Quest, it was a good size for a 2D side view game, though every board had a stationary screen that didn't move. I fell into some lakes and pits accidentally because I walked to the left and when I entered the other new screen, stepped into the wrong area.

Well this is plain cheating the way I see it. Shame on Sony for doing this. I am sure this is intentional on Sony's part to get some more bucks. Anyways for a 54.99 its still a good deal but I would have pissed off too if my pre ordered turned like this. Btw how long is the first chapter approx?

Its not some open world but still great. I am in the beginning right now but loving it so far. The download size is 7 GB for 1st chapter so I believe it will be a couple of good hours long.

Thanks. 7 GB is a good size for a digital game.

Sucks I had to pay for first EP & I do feel cheated a bit. Probably would have thrown a bigger fit had they done this to me with a AAA title.

I started the EP to test the waters so to speak but didn't have the intention right then & there to finish it because I wanted to finish two other episodic games I was in the middle of & well got storied out. lol

I'll get back to this soon though.

As Kashif pointed out the camera work of the gameplay is "fixed" camera like the God of War games. What's interesting about this when you are in a situation where you are moving the character say North & moving the analog stick in one direction, the Camera will change & you then have to reverse the analog movement to continue in the same direction. You can't fall off a cliff.. (Well not yet in my game).. Your character will hit an invisible wall if you try. The intro has some challenging gameplay like QTE & I have died a few times because while you play it's literally like watching a Disney film, yet it's actually Gameplay.
