It's been awhile since I've seen it, so correct me if I'm wrong, but, not counting the Predator, isn't there only one "Alien" (the Predalien) in the film? If so, then technically, this movie should have used the singular Alien in the title, like the first film did (which actually happened to have more than one alien and predator). The typo on the spine seems like a justifiable change --if only the front cover didn't conflict with it. |

It certainly does sound like I need a rewatch. I really enjoyed the first AVP and own it on DVD, but I only saw Requiem once when it first came out. I remember not liking it as much as the first film, but thinking it would have been a lot more enjoyable if the picture quality wasn't so damn dark.

You hit the nail on the head. The movie is too dark. In the special features, the producers/directors state that they intentially darkend the movie. There are several deleted scenes that show the movie as it was filmed without the postproduction darkening effect added to the film. It's like night and day.
Darkening the film ruined it. They over did it. Not a terribly bad story or movie IMO. It's just unwatchable because the film was over darkened. I keep hoping for a reissue that dials back the darkening effect, but that will probably never happen. |
