Default Harman Kardon AVR 1710 - 7.1 + ZONE 2?

I just picked this up on clearance at Bestbuy and was wondering, can I do 7.1 and have zone 2 speakers at the same time? I thought it would have separate posts for this but it doesn't. The manual is pretty empty and doesn't really mention it all....

Page 19 of your manual shows you a diagram on how this can be achieved but you need an external amp to do this, use the zone 2 preouts located on the far left of the back panel.

That's what I was thinking too. The speaker level outs are either/or.

Thanks guys. I forgot to come back since soon after posting the HDMI inputs went crazy so I returned it and bought a Pioneer VSX-1123 and after a couple weeks I am having similar issues, some have picture and no sound, some the other way and some have neither....I guess I have bad luck?

edit: I guess I should add that I tried different cables and ports on my TV. Everything started working again for now....I guess I will return it before the return window closes.

maybe it requires a firmware update

Have to look at the common denominator.....Which would be your TV. As BigAl said it may require a firmware update.
