I know there was another thread around here somewhere, in which I posted a few days ago. I'm eager to hear your impressions on this thing. I'm excited from what I have read about it but real leery to pull the trigger on this one. Anyway, can you post some of your impressions on darker scenes or scenes with a lot of shadow detail, especially from film sources. I'm really curious what it would do with a movie like BladeRunner versus their examples on the website which have a more "Planet Earth documentary" like feel to them. Hope you like it!

Ive only had a chance to watch 2 movies with it & I like it,some people are having problems with it but I think they are using other vido processors with the darbee. My setup is a Pany 4000 projector,Onkyo 5507 pre-pro & Sony 790 blu-ray,the movies I watched where the Dark Night & Mission Impossible 4 which both movies would have looked good on VHS!They are selling them now with a firware update & offering free shipping for owners to return theres for updating.

I have seen it (well nearly) and i will try and be as diplomatic as i can because i got flamed over on AVS for basically saying the same thing so please remember this is a another sharpening tool nothing more nothing less, but i think it might have it's uses on the likes of poorer quality broadcasts and Blu Ray transfers, but please try and demo for yourselves.
PS There are handshake issues with some UK Samsung plasmas. |

Here is another vigorous debate on this product's claims, design philosophy, perceived merits, glitches, etc.: link . Personally, I'm not persuaded it isn't introducing its own form of image distortion. The company representative engaged in the thread has not been responsive to specific questions. Not very helpful or confidence inspiring.

I reported nearly two weeks ago about the problems i had with it and what i thought but unfortunately it is falling on deaf ears. I have been called sad and laughable for my and others views on the product over on AVS & AVF. No one and i mean none of the true experts/calibrators have come forward and endorced this product (only it seems those with a vested interest) which is very telling. But i am willing to listen to any of those who are independent, as to their views. |

Based on the website it does look like the unsharp mask in photoshop. I wonder if the real thing can be compared to that as well. It doesn't seem all bad, but I think when I would use it could hinge on the source content. Still for the price, I'm not completely sold.

Regarding the photos on their website, here's what Kris Deering (from Home Theater Mag) posted on AVS. "With the Darblet properly dialed in it looks nothing like the processing shown on the website. That is a pretty poor example of how it can look and is more representative of turning on the most aggressive mode to its highest level. With the right settings the results are vastly different with a far more subtle effect. The Darblet is definitely not a sharpening tool in the traditional sense and acts NOTHING like the detail enhancement or sharpness settings on a display. I just completed a review of the Darblet and many of my sentiments and concerns going into the review based on the information on hand and their website were very almost identical to what you've expressed here. But my thoughts on the matter now are completely different and I'm glad I gave the Darblet a look." |

I got mine.
I will be trying it on a Cineversum Blackwing 3 tomorrow. Interesting. I'm thinking of putting it in where the HDMI exits my amp. So it catches all sources. Is this the best place or near the projector end? Ta Dono ![]() |

Good question. They don't specify in the manual, so I'd call them to be sure. It seems like it shouldn't matter, as long as the Darblet is within the IR remote operating range/line of sight. |
