I can't be the only one who's frustrated by the ridiculous price gouging going on over there, can I? I mean , I'm seeing $6, $7 for a new movie, UV only in some cases. One dude is even asking $8 for a walmart vudu code that contains 6 flicks--and the blu itself only costs $7.88. I understand it's a free market. I understand supply and demand. And I know--I know the high prices will go down eventually...but this is getting ridiculous. Especially when so many sellers are splitting the code up for UV and iTunes.
Used to be you'd get both codes for max of $4, and you could sell the one you didn't want. Shouldn't they be selling the one code, say the UV, for half of what they would get for a code normally, say $4-$5 tops? I mean, let's face it, we're not buying anything but the movie. Not features, not case, not discs , not artwork...and it's like a field day out there with the pricing. Short of not buying from these price gougers, is there anything the mods can do? anyway. Mostly a rant, but I was to see what others thought too. |

I agree, but like you said it's supply and demand. If people weren't buying them for those prices then people wouldn't be selling them. For me I wait until the price goes down. I have a backlog of movies to watch anyway so I will pop in and see if anything is selling for a reasonable price and if so I buy it. Otherwise I know that in a few weeks time the prices will go down. Personally I won't spend more than $3 for a new release code and I have been able to keep that going for a while now.
^^^haha, there you go. I think $3 is fair as it's something you aren't going to use anyway if you're selling it. It's become a way for people to recoup the cost of the blu-ray. That's fine as it's yours to do with it what you want but I don't think $3 is unreasonable. Last edited by DeadDog; 10-16-2013 at 02:34 AM. |

No, there's nothing a mod can do, or should do. I scroll past anyone who has prices above $4. If there's a market for it though, then you will continue to see it. If there isn't, then the prices will come down, or someone else will put it up cheaper. I've yet to pay over $3 for a code on there, and I also personally wouldn't sell a code for more than that unless it was a TV show, or multiple movies.
You could also try and contact the people selling it, and see if they wouldn't sell something for cheaper. A little haggling never hurt anyone. |

I charge $4-5 for a new release movie. I don't bother listing New movie codes for more than that on here since I wouldn't expect many to be interested and I would not pay that much myself.
$4-5 is very fair and a great deal imo. That's less than the cost of an hd rental on vudu or on demand. You don't gotta leave house to watch what you buy and you can watch it as many times as you want. I take into consideration all titles with uv codes in them and rarely buy ones without the codes. There are people who low balk and people who ask for pretty high prices. I try to be fair and offer quick service so I think $4-5 is very fair. |

I simply laugh at the absurdity. Everyone has a price they're willing to pay and willing to sell. Personally I try to think of what I would pay max when I list my prices. When I see outrageous prices I just shake my head and move along. If someone wants to actually pay the ridiculous price well then good for the seller and too bad for the schmuck who overpaid.

I've never had to pay more than $4 for a new release on the forum and I am thankful for that. I do agree, $5 is pushing it and anything above $6 is asinine and those people need to get their heads checked.
I sell codes but will never price it higher than what I would pay for it myself if I was in someones shoes. I do say, for every $4 movie I've paid for, I've gotten some great deals on the cheap for other films, so it balances out in the longrun. Some people are just out to recoup their entire cost of the blu or close to it, I find that to be pretty sad but to each their own. |

haha you're not the only one thinking this OP
but yes, for a popular release, I have managed to snag every code for $3 roughly, I'll cough up a $1 more if it's an uncommon code like the movie Trance. I also visit other forums and see what is available at the other sites. I also see the same posters with their high prices as well. The long list of titles they have that they don't sell ![]() I usually find what I want for the price I'm willing to pay which is great for me. I don't ever send low ball offers, I just move along because there's nothing to see here ![]() last but not least, what King Troll said is so true ![]() |

got, fast 6 for 2.01
world war z when it was released for 2 something, itunes and vudu, HDX, also the goldberg sd code for 2, so there are ways to get codes for cheap, you have to be fast and get them right when they post also preorders of monsters u, man of steel and lone ranger on vudu. HDX, 12 for all 3 =) 5 or 6 for any movie is a rip off to me |
