Default Tales of Symphonia plus Dawn of the New World coming to PS3

Quote:
Namco Bandai’s two Tales of Symphonia games will be re-released in HD on the PlayStation 3, a report at Spanish website Koi-Nya claims. Koi-Nya recently had a chance to speak with Tales series producer Hideo Baba, who teased the release.

The two Symphonia games are the original Tales of Symphonia released for the Gamecube and PS2, and its sequel, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, which was released for the Wii. The HD compilation containing both will supposedly by titled Tales of Symphonia: Perfect Edition.

Siliconera has gotten in touch with Namco Bandai for comment.

I may not know a word of Spanish, but apparently the Spanish article mentions that this will come to at least the United States. Then it mentions Tales of Xillia 2 will also be localized. Though I suppose it will be weird if Tales of Xillia 2 didn't make it since we have the 1st game already being localized. As for Tales of Symphonia, I know Nintendo had some exclusive rights to Tales of Symphonia outside of Japan sort of like how Vesperia has rights with Microsoft which is why Tales of Symphonia PS2 version never got localized. Maybe this will have the features that were introduced in the PS2 version.

I thought that this is still a rumor? Whatever, I look forward to playing these again if they do get remastered for PS3. I hope they add some new mechanics or something to the battle system for Tales of Symphonia as it's pretty outdated. I'll just be fine if the only thing added to the battle system is just the ability to free run.

As for Dawn of the New World, please remove those stupid level caps for the original cast. It made having them in your party pretty much useless during the end of the game...

Namco Bandai Games announced the Tales of Symphonia: Unisonant Pack remaster of both Tales of Symphonia games at the Tales of Festival 2013 event on Saturday. The Playstation 3 game will bundle both the original Tales of Symphonia game containing the features from the Playstation 2 port, as well as the Tales of Symphonia: Ratatosk no Kishi (known as Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World in North America) sequel for the Nintendo Wii.

The remaster will feature new cover art, new Mystic Artes cut-in images, and new Tales of the Abyss-themed costumes for Lloyd and Genius (Genis in North America). All three theme songs for the game will be remixed for Tales of Symphonia: Unisonant Pack, including day after tomorrow's “Starry Heavens” and “Soshite Boku ni Dekiru Koto” opening themes that were used for the original game's Gamecube and Playstation 2 releases respectively, and misono's “Ninin Sankyaku” song that served as the sequel's opening theme.

The game is scheduled to be released in Japan on October 10 for the price of 6,980 yen (about $70). First copies of the game will come with an original greeting card with an illustration from animation studio ufotable, a greeting card from Katsuyuki Konishi (voice of Lloyd) and Hiro Shimono (voice of Emil), an original Playstation 3 custom theme, as well as other unannounced contents.

A limited edition pack for Namco Bandai's LalaBit Market was also announced, and will contain a new original novel that tells the story of what happened in the two year gap between the two games, a set of 5 “Chibi Kyun Chara” figures modeled after Lloyd Irving, Collet Brunel, Marta Lualdi, Emil Castagnier in Ratatosk Mode, and Tenebrae. The LalaBit Market set will cost 9,980 yen (about US$100), and pre-orders are being held from Saturday until July 15.

In addition, the company announced that a Blu-Ray box containing all episodes of the Tales of Symphonia the Animation, Tales of Symphonia the Animation: Tethe'alla Episode, and Tales of Symphonia the Animation: The United World Episode OAVs has been green-lit. The box will contain 3 Blu-ray discs, and have a new original cover art by OVA character designer Akira Matsushima. The set is scheduled to be released by Frontier Works on November 6.

Namco Bandai also announced that the Tales of games will once again be returning for a Tales of event at Namco Namja Town in autumn. The event will introduce new foods and desserts themed after Tales of characters. Namco Namja Town is scheduled to reopen on July 1.

The original Tales of Symphonia game was released in Japan for the Nintendo Gamecube in 2003, with an improved port with new features being released for the Playstation 2 in 2004. A sequel for the Nintendo Wii titled Tales of Symphonia: Ratatosk no Kishi (Tales of Symphonia: Knight of Ratatosk) was released in Japan in 2008. All games were released in North America, with the exception of the Playstation 2 improved port. An OVA project with animation production by ufotable was green-lit in 2007, with the final episode being released last October.

Tales of producer Hideo Baba confirmed the release of the Tales of Symphonia Chronicles (working title) game on Namco Bandai's European YouTube channel on Saturday. The game is scheduled to be released in countries outside of Japan in 2014.

PS3 only. But even if there was a PS Vita version, it probably wouldn't get localized like this PS3 version. Namco just sees PS Vita as being too niche outside of Japan for their already niche games like as if they think American gamers only care about consoles, Smartphone games and the 3DS.

Don't worry Europe, you'll get the Collector's Edition as well and in February

Quote:
Europe is getting Tales of Symphonia Chronicles soon… really soon. The official Tales Twitter account shared today that the game will be released in Europe on February 28th. And yes, Europe is getting a collector’s edition like North America.

Tales of Symphonia Chronicles will contain HD remastered versions of both Tales of Symphonia and its sequel, Dawn of the New World. Namco Bandai have not yet announced a U.S. release date for the compilation.

Tales of Symphonia Chronicles will have the opening themes from both the Gamecube and PlayStation 2 versions of the game. The original Gamecube version of the game had a song titled “Starry Heavens,” which was replaced in the PS2 port, but this track is back in Chronicles, Namco Bandai have announced.

Namco Bandai say that Tales of Symphonia Chronicles will include the following rearranged original openings:

Tales of Symphonia – Starry Heavens (Version 2013) and Soshite Boku ni Dekiru Koto (Version 2013) by Day After Tomorrow

Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World – Ninin Sankyaku by Misono

Lloyd Irving is making a pilgrimage to North America on February 25, 2014. That’s the date Namco Bandai will release Tales of Symphonia Chronicles here.

Tales of Symphonia Chronicles includes HD versions of Tales of Sypmphonia and the Wii sequel Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. The Gamecube and PS2 opening songs for Tales of Symphonia will be included in Chronicles and there’s a lovely collector’s edition with four figures plus a Tales novel translated in English.
