Digital copy requests out of control!

Okay, the digital copy requests are out of control on this forum! I'm not talking about it being discussed in the appropriate forum, I'm talking about the requests made in other places, particularly via PM.

So, I'm going to add something to my signature. What do you bet nobody reads it and asks for more codes in the future?!

Seriously, I think the forum should implement a rule that no digital copy code requests may be made ANYWHERE in the forum (including via PM) except in the area designated for those trades.

Mark, I totally agree with you. All of this off topic posting by people begging for codes has no place in this forum and it is not allowed. Posts dealing with items offered for sale or for trade made outside of the trading forum are taken offline. Requests for codes made outside of the trading forum are taken offline. Requests for free codes made ANYWHERE are taken offline.

Please report any spam pms made by people asking for codes. Personally, I used to give my codes away for free in the Free Codes Thread but I have stopped doing that. I would elaborate more, but I rather not post something that would surely offend a certain very small segment of the membership.

I will state that the majority of the reported posts we get deal with the The Digital Codes Buy/Sale Thread.

After adding a title to my collection, I received two separate requests for the UV code, from separate members I don't know, within 20 minutes of each other.

This happened back in December, and it hasn't happened since, but it smelled fishy at the time.

I've received these kinds of pms as well. Likewise, I've actually given codes away before to the first person to pm me after I made a post offering them, so maybe they remembered me and figured they'd ask.

Another approach which seems to work : no-one's bothered me begging for codes, even though I also used to give them away. I added a little list to my sig labeled "Best Offer". It's been peaceful ever since. Apparently these "beggar" guys don't believe in "I'll buy that for a dollar!".

I give away my codes, but I have heard mixed thoughts about this practice. Should I stop doing it, is it frowned upon at Blu-ray.com?

That is up to you if you want to give them away, This is not something that is frowned upon at all Jett Rink.

I don't bother to respond when I receive PMs of this nature. If I want to give away/sell my digital copy(ies), I'll initiate that sort of transaction and advertise it myself. If I'm not doing that openly, it's probably because I'm not interested in that type of transaction.
