Default The "best deals" strip at the top of the page

Sometimes it goes to the corresponding page on this website, and other times it links directly to the Amazon.com product page.

1. Why the constant switching from one method to the other?

2. Stop it, it's annoying!

If I wanted to see the Amazon product page, I'd avoid this website altogether. I come here to see information and detailed user reviews. Most of the time the reviews on Amazon are garbage (I think everyone is on drugs there...) and also details are mission (such as codec, etc.)

So why annoy people by having the "deals" strip at the top occasionally link directly to Amazon?

I've never had it go directly to Amazon in the 4 years I've been here

That's not happening for me with that release, nor any other either. It's probably a browser thing on your side.

The only thing similar to this that happens with some releases is when I click on the "Back" or "Slipcover back" image link it'll go to Amazon instead.

Log out and try. It seems to work differently depending on if you're logged in or logged out. At least it does for me. Give it a try.

I logged out, and it still went to the correct page. Have you tried it with different browsers? Or maybe clearing your cookies for this site, and trying again.

Yes, I clear my cookies every time I close my web browser. I don't like keeping cookies around, for privacy reasons. I've tried it on Safari, Firefox, and Chrome.

Happens to me too. It has been going on for about 2 weeks for me, maybe a little less.

For instance, just grabbing a link from the current top deals link for Spartacus:

https://www.blu-ray.com/link/click.p...52&tid=033&c=7

This goes to Amazon for me.

There's a drop-down menu at the top right, that allows you to choose whether the links bring you to the database or to amazon. This is something new as far as I can tell.

Some members wanted it linked directly to Amazon and some to the Blu-ray.com entry, so we made it optional with a drop-down.

Does it link to Amazon as the default? Because I think it did for me before I realized how to fix it. If it does, I think it should be the opposite.

+2. This drove me batty for a day or two until I saw the drop down that wasn't there before. I use the price history for just about everything I purchase so going straight to Amazon was rather distressing for a bit there.

Somewhat related, is there an option to hide the movies in the "deal banner" that aren't US only? I won't ever order from amazon.uk and since the holidays started it shows me titles from other countries. Not sure if it's something I could hide or not since it started doing it on its own...

thank you for this. I was about to complain because it just started happening to me. Now I can read the specs and reviews and THEN choose to go to Amazon via the link. So much better.

Isn't this taken care of in the settings? There are a multitude of check boxes for all the different countries and several sections including "deals" and "reviews" and "news". IIRC

I really don't think we should complain about a service that is free and tries to help people to save money. Maybe we should just ask if there is a fix for the issue.
