Someone pointed this out in the Vudu forums but Flixster's in home d2d now supports Blu Rays. They still charge the same though. If you really want a movie in your account and can't get to Walmart and Vudu's service doesn't work I guess it's a last resort. $5 to covert a BD may not be worth it. Another thing I noticed in my account is they now list the movies that you tried before that were not d2d eligible that are now available. I have 2 listed in the software.

I got mine to update last night and I was able to get it to read a lot of Blu-rays that VUDU still can't. The problem obviously is the price differential. But then again, going to Wal-Mart's Photocenter and hoping they have an employee who's even heard of D2D much less knows how to do it can be a real pain in the ass.

Thanks for the heads up here.
I was able to convert a few with this app, but some of the WB/Universal titles I've wanted to convert the most (Casablanca Blu [from the newest remaster], The Birds Blu, Vertigo Blu) aren't registering here either. The Jurassic Park Blus don't read at VUDU, and Flixster says they don't qualify because "there may already be an Ultraviolet copy included with your disc," even though I bought the first round of JP Blus before there was an Ultraviolet system. ![]() I'm really hoping the CinemaNow app will make a similar adjustment and allow Blus for conversion. Its Rovio reader is amazing and has read every disc I've ever tried with it. Maybe VUDU will get off Gracenote soon. |

Here's something else to consider. When you buy/redeem/D2D a movie at Vudu, that movie will always be available for you on the Vudu service.
When you buy/redeem/D2D a UV-compatible movie somewhere else, you can watch it on Vudu. But you won't actually own it on Vudu. It's available through your UV library. So if Vudu ever removed the title from their catalog, or if Vudu removed the UV status, that particular title would no longer be accessible at Vudu. Vudu removes titles from their catalog all the time for one reason or another. I just had a dozen titles disappear from my Wishlist last week. And I've seen a few instances where a title lost UV status. So I'm a little leery about redeeming UV codes and doing D2D anywhere but Vudu. The other services are mostly useless for viewing movies. |

As to movies disappearing from my wishlist, my experience has been that these are typically movies from the studios who haven't yet jumped on the UV bandwagon (Disney, MGM, and some non-animated Dreamworks titles). I'm cautious about buying these movies anyway because of their limited use within VUDU. I would also add that while VUDU is clearly the best player on the market now it probably won't be the only game in town for too long. Target Ticket, MGO, and CinemaNow players and apps will, I suspect, eventually catch up. I fully expect Flixster to develop an app that will play movies on Bluray players and digital video devices in the near future. |

That's not 100% accurate. If Vudu ever removes it's UV status you will lose access to it through Vudu. If the movie goes out of the sales window and is not offered through Vudu but it remains UV it will stay in your Vudu library. I have plenty of movies in my Vudu library that they do not sale. For the longest time a bunch of Warner movies were like this (The last Harry Potter, Green Lantern, Horrible Bosses, etc...). All were redeemed via Flixster and showed in Vudu even when they were not available to purchase or rent. Occasionally Vudu does remove UV status on movies (Harold and Kumar unrated comes to mind) and those you will lose access to if Vudu stops offering it as UV.

Don't know but if you haven't used the Flixster D2D program yet they're still offering 5 complimentary movies which equates to $2 off of the SD version of the movie only.

I was just about to take advantage of this, but not sure I want SD versions, when I can D2D with VUDU and upgrade to HDX for $2.50, with the promo. Tried to find some old DVDs that may not have HDX versions, but all of mine do.

Also, do you really have to pay for each transfer separately? I don't see an option to keep adding to my order. |

EDIT: Appears the $5 offer you're referencing excludes rentals and is only good on purchases. |
