I'm very surprised that a thread was never started about this film, and particularly about the excellent 2018 blu ray release from Vinegar Syndrome, which is more typical top-notch VS work product. The film has a soft, warm look, with great colors and excellent cinematography. It looks almost "lush and rich" considering the source materials. The VS team have worked wonders here. VS's 2k transfer from the OCN is respectfully handled, nicely filmic, and more detailed than expected.
Clearly, this film could gain some real depth and a fantastic contrast boost with a proper 4k uhd presentation. I'd be thrilled to own it on 4k. It has strange pacing and loads of awkward character interactions, with a weird, tense atmosphere of uncertainty and dread hanging over the proceedings, which the cast does a great job of keeping up throughout the runtime. You have no idea what direction any particular scene is going to head in and it manages to remain engaging. The characters all find themselves in a bizarre scenario that rapidly degrades. This is a great example of a well-done albeit low-budget wacky 70's british sci fi/drama. Hats off to Vinegar Syndrome for yet another top-notch standard blu ray release that's now just begging to find its way onto a stunning 4k uhd taken from the clearly healthy OCN. Pretty please, VS!
