If given a choice between Cases, which would you go for and why?
Personally Speaking, I love DigiBooks! DigiPacks with the Plastic Tray on CardBoard... Those I hate! I found my newest DigiBook "Seven" the other day... $17.09 NEW! Thankfully, Hunger Games: Catching Fire seems to be more "Book," than "Pack" It looks to be the same as my Battle Royale' set, Disks go IN the Pages! Those are my favourite versions. I think another reason I love DigiBooks is because DVD's used to include booklets and they stopped doing that, I'd get very annoyed when my movies didn't have a booklet. And I've seen only ONE Blu-Ray with a "Real" Booklet... The Three Amigo's! Given the Choice, I go DigiBook over Amaray (any version) and SteelBook. However, If there are Exclusive Disks being offered, I will go for that, but I'd most likely double Dip for both the Extra Disk and again for the DigiBook, and combine the Extra Disk in the DigiBook, either by removing the 3D Disk or the DVD Disk. |

I like the smallest lightest case possible. I prefer the Viva Elite cases. Rooted back to my DVD days, I've hated digipaks, which always seemed to separate from the cardboard. I've collected a few steelbooks, but then I was always too worried about getting them dinged. Simple is best.

I love the variety. I couldn't care less about how uniform they look on the shelf. They look more interesting (like books) if there's some variation. As long as they are approximately the same size, I'm happy with most of the formats I've seen.
But I would say on preference I have is I don't like boxed sets to be bloated. I like those cases that hold multiple movies in one thicker amaray for sure. |

Amaray. Its much easier and cheaper to replace. It's impossible to replace a limited steelbook or digibook and the collector in me hates the thought of having a jacked up piece of cardboard/metal with my ocd-style blue cases.
But I also like the Criterion cases. ![]() |

The only Criterion that I own is Gojira and it's a CardBoard Sleeve in a CardBoard box... |

All mine go into Viva Elite cases. My OCD (never diagnosed but I'm sure there's some in there) dictates that all my blus look identical. For that reason I don't like digibooks (even though I love the information) or steelbooks (even though the artwork is often so beautiful and superior to the standard sleeve). I also really don't like the cardboard packs that they use with some multiple movies sets.

I don't know if I typically have a preference.
I appreciate the utility of a good keepcase in a nice slipcover. I like that I can swap out keepcases or add additional discs/inserts if I need to and I like the look and shape of a slipcover on my shelf (as opposed to a bare BD case). I think steelbooks are kinda neat, but I don't really love or collect them per se. Digibooks are kinda cool, but I don't like how thick they can get for multiple disc sets, and I've honestly never bothered reading the "book" contents. I quite liked digipaks in the DVD days as they added something special and more area for artwork. I still do to an extent, but many releases swap the plastic trays for paper slits which I don't care for. |

I've always liked digipacks, even though they are the most prone to damage - they often have an upscale, premium look that the standard blue plastic cases just don't have. (Compare the Vista Series digipack special edition of Sixth Sense on DVD to the standard-issue Sixth Sense blu-ray - the digipack is a work of art.)
I also like digibooks, even though most of the time they don't realize their potential. Most digibooks will have a handful of familiar photos and a smattering of not-very-illuminating text. If a studio is gonna go to the trouble of putting out a digibook, it would be nice if they put together content that is something more than just a glorified press kit. |

I'm not a huge Digibook fan but I prefer then far more than flimsy digipacks. Whenever I pull out the digipack of my Criterion version of Nashville, I'm afraid the flimsy cardboard will fall apart from the weight of the package. I used to have the Canadian releases of Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown, which were digipacks, and replaced them with the American versions in standard cases. If I could replace my other digipacks with standard cases I would. I have no interest in steelbooks whatsoever. They're more of a collector's niche than regular blu-ray packaging. |
