Default New rule for Movies forum

Mods/Admins, for your consideration:

Please institute a rule (a violation of which is punishable by suspension) that says something to the effect of... well, let's just go with a general "Don't be a creep" rule.

This means don't act like an actress' breasts are a separate person, don't obsess over whether a woman's body is "right" to play a superhero, don't say that women could stand to lose a few pounds, make ironic sexist remarks at your own risk, basic simple stuff. (Don't tell us what you masturbate to.)

There are people (women and men) on this forum who find this sort of unfortunately abundant talk very creepy and in some instances, disgusting. It's become a problem, especially in discussions of movies, and I see little to nothing done about it.

I've heard the claims that this is a "family friendly" website time and time again yet this sort of stuff is evidently permissible?

[Show spoiler]Now I'm worried I might have been a creeper. I am probably just over thinking it.

If it makes you feel any better, I don't recall you posting anything creepy.

BUT I don't want this thread to name names. This is ONLY about hopefully instituting a rule, not going on a witch hunt!

Setting up a "new rule" every time someone's nickers get bunched is no way at all to run a forum, people.

Now, back to Leftie and Rightie....sorry, weak attempt at creepy.

I approve. People are scolded for racist and homophobic remarks so I don't see why stuff like this is deemed acceptable.

+infinity to this.

It's super sad/frustrating to see people play make believe with women they have no chance of ever even meeting. Not to mention the bizarre sense of entitlement that goes along with it.

It's way creepy.

Typical "feminist" nonsense. It's totally ok to discuss if a man would fit a role, but not if a woman would? If you have that severe of a body image issue that it upsets you that bad, seems like a personal problem

everyone defines "creepy" differently. typical political correctness garbage.. don't like a person.. put them on ignore, simple as that. plenty of people around here I don't find remotely worthwhile, and creepy as hell... guess what, I either put up with them or ignore them... we have WAAAAAAY too much "you shouldn't say that!!!" type crap on here now. especially with something as vague as what the OP is going for, every mod can interpret it differently.

if someone needs to lose a few pounds .... then damn well say they should. this is an opinion forum. not a "make everyone feel all snuggly" forum.

do we REALLY wanna turn this into HTS?

wow.... Some people should just stay off the internet, I'm not going to say women have not been discriminated against in Hollywood because I know they have. It goes both ways though, if a woman doesn't want to be portrayed in a certain way they shouldn't fall into what people "think" they should look like.

I know we live in a chauvinistic world in a lot of aspects in our life and will fall prey into what beauty should be but this is what a big part the movie industry is. Saying that, asking the mods to suspend anybody would go against what is ongoing in the industry.

I figured the mods weren't going to do anything about this so I was fine with letting the thread die. Didn't expect the Men's Rights brigade to resurrect it with their shitty comments. There are a lot of good forums that would suspend and ban people for the types of stuff you guys just said so be grateful you have the opportunity to be sexists on this one.

Mods, if you've declined my suggestion, then please close this thread so there aren't any more disgusting comments made in it.

We have rules that cover just about every situation. We want to encourage civil discussion as much as possible, but mutual respect between all is the key. Usully, the #1 complaint from members is "posts disappearing" . If there's a need for a new rule or for a change of policy in the future the site manager and the administartors will implement it.
