While generally pretty comfortable regarding the eventual release of all the Disney theatrical animated features, there is a subset of these films from the 1940's I am less sure of due to their format and relative obscurity. I speak of the "package films" Disney made during the war years of the 1940s prior to getting back on track with "Cinderella" in 1950. Specifically:
Make Mine Music Melody Time Fun and Fancy Free The Three Caballeros Saludos Amigos Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad These films are both unique and important, as they kept Disney afloat during some difficult times, and allowed for the development and eventual flowering of his talented team of animators who would go on to make the classic films of the 50s and 60s. While all the the above films have seen releases in most previous home video formats, many have suffered mind-numbing cuts and censoring, mostly in the name of political correctness. These great films are a foundational legacy and deserve Disney corporation's respect, proper preservation and Blu-ray release. |
