Where you're from? Normally you do not need to downlad the film. In the cloud is enough to watch it on your apple tv to stream it.

Well when I loaded some of my codes via my computer it prompted me to download them. ie Jurrasic Park Trilogy and LOTR trilogy. So I downloaded them to my computer. Does that mean they are in my cloud now and can be viewed with an appletv.
Others like disney transferred files from the digital copy dvd to my computer. Does that mean they are in my cloud now and can be viewed by an appletv.

I just bought my Apple TV last week. If you delete your movie from your PC, it will ask you if you want to keep your movie in the Cloud. Click yes and you can watch them all on your Apple TV without them taking up all the space on your PC.

Shinsaku is right, I never downlad my films on my US account to my pc. It's all in the cloud. Just stream your films, all very easy.
That's a problem with a german account, no cloud, so I don't buy films here

I download all my movies, because you never know when a movie will be incompatible with the cloud. Also, when you go to your Apple TV and look under your purchases, you should see those films in there to stream to the device. If a movie that you purchased isn't there, and you have downloaded the movie file to your PC, then you can turn on home sharing that will use your network to stream that file to your Apple TV from your PC. Home Sharing is also a good option if there are extras that you want to watch on your TV like the commentary of Star Trek into Darkness feature with the IMAX scenes.

I download all of my movies, put them on an external hard drive, keep them in iTunes in the movies playlist. Then on Apple TV i got to the computers and it loads my library, then there is a list of music, movies, TV shows, and podcasts. Your movies should all in that list and play fine. If they downloaded in HD they will look great, and if they are SD they should look alright. I got an Apple TV in late 2012 and love it. if ever download any music videos from iTunes they work too.

How did you get Star Trek into Darkness extras to play on Apple TV? My Home Sharing is on and extras don't show up.

What you will have to do is add the specific file from the extras, like the commentary file for STID, to your library. ITunes will see this as a home video file, not as a purchase from the store. You may to change the file name to differentiate from the other files from the Extras. Also, this will also allow you to transfer the file to your iPad, iTouch or iPhone. This will be time consuming to add each specific file to iTunes and give them appropriate names. For me, the only file that I would want to want on my TV is the commentary for STID. The only issue I have is that the Apple TV, which is my brothers that he doesn't really use, doesn't stay connected or can't connect to the Home Sharing network at times.

This work around, while can be a little tedious, I hope will be temporary and they allow the extras to be streamed to Apple TV.

Thanks, I can't believe i didn't think to do that before. Works great! Yeah took a little time, but not to bad. Now that i can to that with iTunes extras, its not to much of a problem anymore, but it would be better if they were playable upon download. I sometime have trouble connecting with home sharing, but that's my internets problem. Other that that i have no problems with Apple TV, a great product.

I love mine as well, gets a lot of use.

I'll have to look into that workaround so I can access the extras on it.

I have loved it since I have picked it up. I have currently 84 titles to choose from. I have noticed it does not use as much on my data cap as vudu, but I guess that is because some of my movies are not HD. I have been satisfied with the picture quality. I really love the remote. It is sleek and not cumbersome like other remotes to hold. I wish other mfrs would make remotes like this. I wonder is HDX better then HD. I have titles in vudu in HDX that look excellent but I could not compare. I love that I was able to tie my Disney account to iTunes and now I have my Disney collection to choose from. My daughter lives with her mother and I think now that I have one I will buy her one also so she can take advantage of my library. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is interested in getting one

The Apple TV is the best birthday present I ever got almost 2 years ago. It has overtaken my PS3 as my main player device in my living room.

Frankly, it's the "one" for me. In combination with an iphone/ipad, I'm basically done buying anymore home theater equipment for a good, good long while.

288 titles and counting.

I'll add my support to the Apple TV. It gets almost as much use as my PS3. I find that I'm buying a lot more digital movies than I am physical copies. I never thought that would happen. I just wish that there was an Amazon app for it.

433 for me- and only one purchased- all the rest are from codes

It's awesome to take to hotel rooms on business trips also to watch stuff. Blu Jedi- have you used airplay yet? That's a killer feature.

Hoping they release an updated model soon. But my favorite apple product I own is the ATV. Glad you like it Jedi!

You can airplay amazon- but I agree, I wish there was a standalone app. Also wish there was a Vudu app and a browser (for wifi log in at certain hotels).

Guessing we'll see a refresh sometime this year- hopefully sooner than later.
Don't worry that you just bought Jedi- even if a new one came out next month you can sell your ATV for what you bought it for.

Yea I was going to wait for the next model to come out but I got tired of waiting. I think they may have offered a gift card with this model because they may be coming out with a new one. How long has it been since Gen 3 has come out. Do they come out with new models yearly
