Default ABOUT TIME (Dir: Richard Curtis) time travel rom-com NOV 2013

"At the age of 21, Tim is told an incredible family secret by his father - that all the men in his family have the ability to travel in time. He can relive any moment in his life to try things differently until he gets them perfectly right."

Written and Directed by Richard Curtis
Stars: Rachel McAdams, Bill Nighy, Domhnall Gleeson, Tom Hollander
Rated R for language and some sexual content

Looking forward to this quite a bit. I LOVE Richard Curtis's other 2 films as director (Love, Actually and The Boat That Rocked ; both masterpieces as far as I am concerned) and he has written so much great stuff (The Girl in the Cafe, Notting Hill, War Horse, Mary and Martha, Bridget Jones 1/2 , and all his british TV wirting like Bean, etc.) .
Also Bill Nighy is supremely watchable. Got a good feeling this will be a nice surprise later this year.

I've loved everything that Richard Curtis has done, writing or directing and I think that Bill Nighy is hilarious. As for Rachel McAdams, well, i'd be willing to watch her read a book. I'm def. down for a ticket.

Still waiting for Rachel McAdams and Jake Gyllenhaal to star together in a time travel movie. You know it's inevitable.

Seems like it could go either way, could be rather special or rather forgettable.

Also, possible minor spoilers in the trailer above.

The last film involving Rachel McAdams and time travel was not good.

This was a good film, not something I would buy but worth a watch.
It's not just a romantic comedy,it's just as much about the leads relationship with his father played by Bill Nighy as well as his relationship with Rachel Mcadams.

How much of the film is spoiled in the trailers? since the trailer seems to spoil quite a few twists.

There are still more twists and turns to be seen, you can see that he goes back to change things to meet Mary but quite a few points aren't even in the trailer.
It's a romantic version of The Butterfly Effect with elements of humour in it.

I'm pretty excited for this. Reviews are solid. I love the soundtrack, which I've been listening to on and off the past couple of weeks.

Anyway, when you buy the re-release of Love Actually you get $8 Fandango cash to see this.

I hope this surprises me because this really looks like a flat, middle of the road rom com. At any rate, it should be better than Time Traveler's Wife.

Studio exec 2: Vampires?

SE2: Zombies?

SE1: Totally done already dude

Crazy studio exec 3 (who comes out of nowhere): HOW ABOUT A TIME TRAVELING, ALIEN KILLING MONSTER-BASHING ROM-COM WITH SUPERHEROES, ZOMBIES, VAMPIRES, AND OLD PEOPLE!

Sh1: That's been don..wait? Time travel eh? Yess, very interesting

All in Unison:

I think it looks pretty good. The director's other stuff has been pretty good. Though I hear the movie doesn't even follow it's own time traveling rules, but either way I'll definitely give it a try.

I saw this last week. It's been out since September in the UK.

[Show spoiler]It's terrible and actually avoids the moral dilemmas that Rachel McAdams's character mentions in The Time Traveler's Wife.

Also, the movie establishes certain rules for time travel and then breaks them anyway.

Finally -- waaaaay too long.

You do know this isn't linked to The Time Traveler's Wife? The same issues can't feature in all films about Time Travel.

But you're right about it being lame, and the way it breaks it's own rules breaks the flow of the film and the message the film convey becomes artificial and forced.

If it's half as good as love, actually or the Boat that Rocked it should still be pretty good.
Curtis and Judd apatow are two of the best writers/directors or Rom-coms ever. If not the best.

In both movies,
[Show spoiler]a man jumps back and forth in time to manipulate a woman's feelings about him
. In this regard, both movies are wholly immoral and disgusting.

At the very least in The Time Traveler's Wife, Rachel McAdams's character gets upset about it.

Meh, we've seen the big midpoint argument in Rom-Com's too many times, it would of been a bit tedious if the film went that route. It's a shame the light hearted 'been there done that' first half of the film was unimpressive, but the second part did some interesting stuff that didn't fit within the first half.

Richard Curtis should of took the good stuff from the script and make a film about that, instead of cramming his usuals in,
