Latino moviegoers are flocking to see a series of paranormal horror films — the latest of which opened Thursday — leading Paramount Pictures to develop a spinoff series called "The Oxnard Tapes."
The popularity of the franchise has spurred the creation of "The Oxnard Tapes," a feature film that is referenced at the end of "Paranormal Activity 4," said Jason Blum, who is co-producing the spinoff film. "The Oxnard Tapes" will feature Latino actors and will be aimed at that audience. The spinoff is still in development, but is scheduled to begin shooting soon, Blum said. Paramount is keeping the storyline confidential until filming is under way, he said. "The movie doesn't take place in Oxnard at the moment, but that may change because we're still in development," Blum said. "The way we do these films, the story evolves as we make them." I saw it last night and I have to say: it was AWESOME. I haven't felt interested in this franchise since the first installment.
This one had a lot of the same scares as all 4 previous PA films but how they basically intertwined this film with the initial 4 films was actually well done and intelligent. Yes there is [Show spoiler] but how it's introduced doesn't make me feel like it's jumped ship or gone off the deep end. There are a few things you need to watch closely for because when you notice them it'll blow your mind in terms of continuity and it actually made me super excited to see 5 in the fall and I haven't paid to see any of the PA films in theatres except for the first one and this one. 4/5. |

Box Office Mojo has its prediction for the weekend in:
While a Paranormal Activity movie has never opened in January before, the month is historically a good launching pad for horror. On this same weekend last year, Texas Chainsaw 3D opened to $21.7 million; more importantly, a year earlier The Devil Inside took in $33.7 million. It may be tough to get that high, though it wouldn't be entirely surprising if The Marked Ones matches Paranormal Activity 4's $29 million debut. Forecast (Jan. 3-5) 1. Paranormal Activity - $23 million 2. Frozen - $18.2 million (-36%) 3. The Hobbit - $16.2 million (-44%) |

I just now saw TV spots for devils due last night. I honestly never heard about this movie until I saw the poster for it at my theater. Devils due looks horrible. And paranormal activity marked ones looks god awful. I wouldn't waste my hard earned money on this trash.

There isn't a single scary movie in any of these films. The worst of the worst. Hell, the horrid Date Movie/Epic Movie/etc movies are better than these. (barely) |
