Default Questions about people sharing accounts

About a month ago, over at the Vudu forums. Someone sent me a private message asking me would I like to share accounts. Well, from what I made out of the post he sent (english wasn't his first language im sure) it all sounded pretty good. He was gonna let me get over 200 UV's from him and thats what he would have got from me.

Then I started thinking he might can somehow steal my debit card information thats automatically stored over there at Vudu. Not like it would get him far though lol.

After that I started seeing alot of posts about people selling there accounts and what not. So, im figuring this is becoming common practice for people to expand their libraries. Not a bad idea but I guess my questions are the following, 1) Is it ok to share an account with anyone? 2) Would you be in danger of losing your account? 3) Is it legal?

I'm not looking to sell my account. However, if its legal to trade that might be something I would look into with a trustworthy person. Hope this post doesn't piss nobody off as I'm only asking because I honestly don't know the answers to this. Thanks

I would never do an arrangement of that type with a complete stranger. I'm not sure if the other person could steal your account info or not, but it is asking for trouble getting into a deal when the person doesn't have a verified and trusted identity.

I received a similar PM over there and I can guarantee you that individual was up to no good. Once you give out your username and password you've lost complete control.

Here's the PM Brice sent and notice the login ID ... Vudu requires an email address not a username.

Step 1) Create a new user on your Ultra Violet family account. A standard member is best, that way no one can mess with your account.

Step 2) Give your new account log in info to another Vudu user. (Mine is something easy Account log in: FreeVuduMovies and password: ultra1234)

Step 3) Have another Vudu user unlink from there UltraViolet account and link to you new family member account. When they link to your new account all there purchases and redeemed movies are automatically added to your Ultra Violet locker and view-able in all your services.

Step 4) Have the second user unlink from your ultraviolet account and back to there's. And Boom, you have a copy of all there Vudu movies and their movie collection stays intact.

Step 5) Do the steps 1-4 on the other persons account to make a copy of your movies to there account.

You can log onto my extra family members account ad link your Vudu up to it and I'll do the same for you.

My log in is: FreeVuduMovies

Password is: ultra1234

I agree that I wouldn't do this deal with a stranger, but for what it's worth, I think the guy was giving his uvvu log-in, not his vudu info. They do log in by nickname and he seems to be talking about having himself added to one of the family spots in your master uvvu account. Either way, I would avoid it for sure!

Brice has been a member of Vudu since 06/07/2013 just a little over a month most likely a scam to steal credit card information or to charge up on your credit card by buying movies through his account since the have been connected.

Can someone explain how they could steal your info or make purchases from VUDU via a linked UV friends and family account? Doesn't make sense to me? Just trying to understand.

sharing UV and sharing Vudu are sperate! you DO NOT NEED a VUDU login to share UV accounts! Sharing VUdu accounts is a scam and will steal your credit care info and passwords etc etc. Sharing your UV should be safe, but UV suggest it being shared with firends and family and to have them linked. NEVER share UV video player accounts such as Vudu, FLixster, cinemanow, etc etc where a credit card may be on file.

That's what I was thinking as well. So why wouldn't it be safe to let someone use one of your friend family accounts on uvvu?

i wouldnt want to get my uvvu account suspended. someone like this is probably going around doing it to hundreds of people, growing his collections. probably owns 300 films now from 40 accounts with licenses for about 1200 copies. he might switch accounts and add 10 films to his collection but keeps red flagging himself, and everyone along with him. Vudu is walmart and they are 2 things 1 strict 2 willing to press charges on all maters over $20.

Good point. It is Walmart. Wonder if that has actually happened to anybody here?

Ok I was wondering about this and I would like to know if 2 different UV users were to added each other to there friends and family account but only give that person standard permission level then give each other the new pass and login for that account. Then set up new vudu accounts to link each others UV accounts so that they could both watch each others library with out merging them and this would keep both library's separate and only the administrator for that account could delete any movie or users respectively.

UV accounts with standard permission can delete other standard users. In the new UVVU beta site, they can delete your movies, too.

Thanks for the info I was aware that they could delete user accounts of the same permission level or below that's why the owner of that account would be at full permission level. I did not know that they could delete the movies.

I logged in as the standard account and it did give me the option to delete the movie but when it asked me to confirm that I wanted to delete the movie it gave me an error and would not let me delete it. Then I logged in to my account and it let me do it without any errors. I had several movies that I redeemed in sd then xd so I deleted the sd copy. I tried 3 diffrent movies and received the same error but I was able to delete them under my account. Maybe this is just a problem with the site but I had to check.

Thanks again
