Warner Bros Adventures of Superman Complete Series (1952-1958) DVD

In May, Warner will be releasing a Complete Series DVD set for Adventure of Superman (1952-1958). Warner previously released the seasons separately (or in season pairs) but those appear to be OOP.

Quote:
It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Superman! The legendary Man of Steel, last survivor of the doomed planet Krypton lives on Earth, assuming the secret identity of Clark Kent, mild-mannered reporter for the Metropolis Daily Planet. But with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men, he battles for truth and justice as Superman. George Reeves stars as the original television Superman.

Likely to drum up anticipation for the Gunn Superman film. I can't say that I've seen any of these but it's nice to hear they're back in print. I know that Heroes & Icons last I checked aired the show on Saturdays alongside Batman '66 and Wonder Woman with Linda Carter.

To bad it’s not a Blu-ray release.

For me, this a positive (but cautious) sign that Warner Brothers are continuing with complete series DVD set releases of older live-action TV series from decades ago (yes, we are slowly seeing some of these getting Blu-ray releases by the WAC (mainly westerns) but I don't think everything will get the Blu-ray treatment from them). Two years ago for example, Mayberry R.F.D. had a complete series DVD release by WB Entertainment.

Not to say it's happening, but Superfriends had the complete DVD boxset announced first last year and then the BD version was announced shortly after.

At the very least, it's staying in print in one form or another.

Maybe we will see that happen with Regular Show too.

I have the old sets and love the art on them but some of the discs are in bad shape from being old. Scratches etc. do we know if this is going to just be a 18 disc set in one giant case like the Super Friends set?

I hear Warner Archive is working on one but I doubt it comes out close to this dvd release. Guessing it drops in the fall at the earliest

I went through the original releases of the series last year and there were a number of discs that had succumbed to disc rot, so at least there'll be new pressings available.

As great as the Gruv pricing is, I want to wait for some reviews to drop. I’m not expecting BD quality but if these are better compressed transfers I may bite for 69.99. I have the original sets but this would really cut back on used shelf space replacing the original thick boxes but I need some reason besides that to drop 70 on this set

Patiently waiting for someone to get this early and show it off. Very curious about the packaging.
