Default Noob! Can someone help me with this problem?

Hey guys, i feel like i have searched this whole site in trying to figure out what the heck is going on with my setup. I recently purchased a samsung LN-T3753H and the samsung BD-P1400. Well today i was attempting to watch "Live free or Die Hard" and the movie would not play, so i put 300 in and it worked just fine. then i opened my copy of hostel 2, and that would not play either. I am running an HDMI cord, (the one that came with my 360 elite). What i am wondering is why will these movies not play? dont all blu-ray discs still play in 1080i? Im really frustrated over this whole situation and am wondering if i just need to take the player back all together. Please someone tell me they can help me fix my problem. thanks guys

check to see if your firmware is up to date on your player, that's most likely the problem

Others have posted problems with Live Free or Die Hard and the 1400. I have the 1400 but dont have LFODH yet. Make sure you install the firmware updates for the player, they are on the samsung website. If you do that, then you shouldnt have any problems with movies, I havent. LFODH just came out though, so there will probably be a firmware update coming to fix that in the next few weeks. I know that sucks, but it is what it is!

Edit: Make sure and check the BD-P1400 review thread too, lots of problems and solutions are posted in that thread!

thanks for the help guys. so all i have to do is plug the ethernet cord into the back? i will have to take a look at the manual. As for the question about the ps3, i already had one and at the time (last Nov.) i just wasnt really interested. I had just purchased my first 360 and actually my first first ever xbox and found that to be more fun, plus it had a lot more games.

Yeah, I have both as well. I like having both just due to some games are obviously exclusive to one or the other. I have a 360 downstairs and a 360 and PS3 upstairs. The PS3 is starting to come out with a lot of good games finally. Plus baseball on the 360 usually sucks. I also have the Sammy 1400 and I did the firmware update right out of the box, So far everything has been smooth. I do not have Die Hard yet. Waiting on my pre-order from Amazon, but I hope I don't have a problem. Definitely do the FW update though,

with the 300 movie it could be 2 possible things either A. Because of the system update was up to par with his blu-ray player player or B. that it was playing in standard definition instead of HD because WB Blu-Ray and Hd-Dvd movies can do that and i think also some disney titles as well

Smile Live Free or Die Hard

I tried to play this last night on my Samsung BD-P1000. It wouldn't play. I downloaded a firmware update (1.3) and finally got it to work. I had to buy NERO as my trial had expired from the recent previous firmware update and could no long use it. This made things much easier. I wish Samsung would notify registered users of new firmware.

I registered my Sony BDP-S1 when I bought it, and they send me firmware updates automatically. That said, I usually find out about them faster then they send them and end up with 2 copies, but hey, they DO send it automatically... Try registering your player with Samsung and it may be the same thing.

I have my BD-P1400 registered and they do not notify you when there is a firmware update. I wish they would though.....

Hmmm, that kinda sucks. I guess most will just need to keep checking the website of their respective players for new firmware updates.

Hey, thanks a lot for this link, my free Nero trial has expired and it came up as $71 to purchase and download, I just followed this link and worked great and I think it was even easier to use than Nero

thanks again

The IP adress thing is kinda tricky. It took me a while to get it to work. You have to make sure you set the settings to automatic (even though that is the default) and then make sure you select "save", not just the "return" button. Then its all gravy! Can't wait for my copy of Die Hard 4, amazon is the devil!
