This is for the truly hardcore Werner Herzog fans in our midst.
I've enjoyed hunting down Herzog's works in the past. My favorite Herzog films are Rescue Dawn (2006) and the 1979 adaptation of Nosferatu the Vampyre, starring Klaus Kinski and the beautiful Isabelle Adjani, but I also love Aguirre: The Wrath of God, Fitzcarraldo, Stroszek, Fata Morgana, and Encounters at the End of the World. From One Second to the Next is a 35-minute short documentary that Herzog created for AT&T's "It Can Wait" campaign that the company launched to increase awareness about the dangers of texting while driving. At first glance, this innovative filmmaker is the last person in the world whom I would have imagined creating a public service announcement video for AT&T, but From One Second to the Next is definitely an effective viewing. It's a real downer of a film, but it is worth seeing at some point, just to notice Herzog's camera styles and to appreciate the thematic undercurrents about the unsettling new ways that technology is intersecting with humanity. You can watch a reminder about an increasingly important topic while also earning a feather in your cinematic coolness cap by having watched a Herzog film. Here ya go... |
