![]() ![]() This is very strange. Amazon.fr is listing a pre-order for Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues with a 9 July 2014 release date. The ASIN is B00LA10DJ6. However, the cover displayed is for the Benelux edition (note the large Dutch "12" rating on the front cover) and EAN for this listing is 5050582967494, which is not from France. Domestic French releases usually start with 300-379 (note that this does not always apply, as French releases are not always manufactured in France) which are the GS1 codes allocated to France. Indeed, the EAN matches the Benelux version, which has been available since 4 June 2014, according to Bol.com. Complicating the matter, Fnac has had an exclusive of the two-disc Blu-ray version available in France since 11 June here, with an EAN of 3333973196638. This version is listed here in our database. At the time, I had also added a single-disc French edition here, believing, naturally, that Amazon and other French shops would stock it. Since the version shown on Amazon is the same two-disc version as Fnac, it would seem that Amazon are foregoing stocking a single-disc French version, and are instead stocking the Benelux edition and implying it is from France. This is the first time I have seen Amazon.fr officially sell an import version (of something that should be made in France) as if it were domestic French stock. Has anyone else noticed this? EDIT: An identical situation seems to be occurring with the French DVD edition as well. The Fnac DVD is exclusive, with an EAN of 3333973190247. The DVD (also) releasing on 9 July on Amazon.fr (ASIN: B00LA10C5Q) is shown as the Benelux version, with an EAN of 5050582967470. So it would seem that Paramount France had deemed Fnac the sole source for the official French versions of a major motion picture, which is somewhat perplexing.
