Matthew Vaughn to direct Espionage Thriller 'I Am Pilgrim'
Quote:
Kingsman: The Secret Service and Kick-Ass filmmaker Matthew Vaughn is set to direct I Am Pilgrim, based on the best-selling espionage thriller book.
MGM is developing the movie version of I Am Pilgrim. Vaughn is also producing the film and co-financing it through his production company Marv Films.
Vaughn had previously said he was open to directing the next installment of Kingsman, though he admitted he had a rule against helming sequels. Vaughn also had been linked to a Flash Gordon movie recently.
Terry Hayes, who penned the book, is handling the screenplay for I Am Pilgrim. However, he's not a newcomer to the business, as Hayes previously wrote the scripts for Payback, Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior and From Hell.
MGM has released the following synopsis for I Am Pilgrim:
"Pilgrim” is the codename for a man who doesn’t exist. The adopted son of a wealthy American family, he once headed up a secret espionage unit for US intelligence. Now in anonymous retirement, he is called upon to lend his expertise to an unusual investigation but ultimately becomes caught in a terrifying race-against-time to save America from oblivion.
