Been waiting for this - indeed, I last checked on Friday.

I'll wait a little longer for the almost inevitable MoC version, though.

Just remember, even though it's a silent film, any intertitles will be in German, probably without subs on this German release.

I wouldn't bet on that. Seems kind of silly to put out a subtitled promo
if the feature won't have them. Universum's M had subs.

I'm curious about the Nosferatu release scheduled for the same day...wondering what (if any) differences between this release and those by MoC/Kino.

Even if it doesn't have subs, I'll get it, it's a silent film, I'll make do, lol. Not worth waiting for a US release which may never happen. This is movie history and I'm very excited to add it to my collection.

The Blu-ray.com entry now states: Subtitles

"German, German SDH

Note: No English subtitles"

Which is a real shame if it holds true.

It is. I can't remember with silent films that have inter-titles do they have different cards for different languages (when they're multiple-language releases) or just have subtitles underneath the original language?

Nice! I saw this for the first time 2 or 3 years ago. Wonderful and visually amazing film but the DVD PQ stunk. I definitely look forward to a top notch HD restoration

I contacted the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Murnau-Stiftung and have received the following mail regarding the upcoming German BD:
Quote:
... which roughly translates into:

"There is no through-composed music from [Giuseppe] Becce. It was probably a compilation. From this three pieces are preserved whose style formed the basis for a new music of the Musikhochschule in Freiburg which will be on the Blu-ray. As special features/extras there is a 50-minute documentary on Weimar cinema, a small making-of on restoration and working examples as well as a booklet."

The documentary should be this one: http://www.arte.tv/guide/de/049243-0...r-ins-kino-kam
