I asked this question because I want your opinion as to how long of a commute is too long for you guys. I desperately need a job, and even though I've submitted possibly more than 500 applications since last year, I still haven't received any job offers. I have a phone interview scheduled this afternoon, and I have a strong feeling that I could get hired for this job (because I'm highly qualified); what concerns me is that I'll possibly spend more than 5 hours on the road every day. My long commute in the past (more than 10 years) has certainly taken its toll on me. Having insomnia makes it even worse especially now that I suffer from panic attacks. Getting stuck in traffic certainly has an effect on my health and well being.
I'll probably end up accepting the job if it gets offered to me. I just hate feeling stuck and not having any other options. I'm too broke to move out, and it doesn't help that I'm suffering from depression. If the pay is great and justifies the long commute, it wouldn't be too stressful to make this decision. I just know that with the price of gas being more than $4.20/gal in Northern CA, I would only have enough to survive and pay for my basic expenses and pay the minimum on my bills. |
