Default I need Help finding new speakers...

I need a good brand from low to mid range pricing. Im replacing some old 5.1 Yamaha speakers. Im good on the sub since I upgraded that to a Onkyo a little while ago.

Im running a Panasonic SA-BX500. I know, its nothing special but it does the job.
Thanks for any help, friends

Without knowing your budget it's hard to make recommendations. Here are a couple of sites that might give you some ideas.

DIY all the way... make some SEOS beasts and you'll never buy a comparatively priced store speaker again

Fluance sells some fairly value priced speakers.

The Pioneer Andrew Jones series gets absolutely glowing reviews for their price from nearly every source I've checked. They're typically in the under $100 range and are said to outperform many speakers that sell for $600 and up. I've got some on order right now, I can't wait to hear them.

I've got two floor standing towers (FS52) and the center (C22) coming from Amazon for a grand total of $190.

I usually try to stay out of the speaker recommendation business but if you are on a budget like me I have to say that I LOVE my pair of Acoustic Research AR-318PS towers. I have had mine for 14 or 15 years and I absolutely love them. I am sure there are better speakers out there but I seriously doubt it for the money. These are very efficient so they sound great even with a lower power receiver. I especially love the smooth and natural high end and the fact that they have good low end response as well. You can almost get by without a sub with these. I use them for my fronts and watch lots of movies as well as a lot of 5.1 music.
Recently my cats knocked over one of mine and busted the tweeter (only time I have ever had a problem with these speakers). I though maybe it was time to try something else and listened to a lot of other budget speakers. I even bought a pair of Pioneer SSP-FS52s and lived with them for a week. They just didn't sound as nice. I took em back and ordered a new tweeter for my busted AR and I am so glad I did.

The only place I have found the AR's anymore is here.

http://www.amazon.com/Acoustic-Resea...ic+research+AR

The price is ridiculously low for how good these are. $89.95 each.

Just so you know, I also run a Polk Audio CSi5 and Polk Audio FXi A4s which I think blend very nicely with the ARs.

I have never heard the BIC America towers but I hear they are really great for the price as well.

I do have a BIC F-12 sub which is pretty good for the money as well.

Pioneer Andrew Jones series

EMP tek e5bi bookshelf speakers $225

Infinity Primus

Paradigm Atom

Home theather review has some great reviews of these speakers. You could just buy 5 bookshelf speakers. It will sound just as good as floorstanding speakers when paired with a subwoofer.

I would suggest the Hsu HB-1 Mk2's. They are amazingly good and the reason they don't get more respect is because people think they are too inexpensive.

Here is a link to their product page, and on it you will find several links to reviews. I own these and I concur with the reviews - these are really good speakers.

http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/hb-1.html

In particular, I would say the reviews by Gene Pitts and Andrew Robinson give the best idea of what to expect.

I have to agree with you, I've heard these speakers at Hsu's Anaheim offices and I have to say that with a sub they're very good speakers. But they have to be used with a sub, IMO they lack low-end. I loved how They don't sound shouty or shrill like some other horn speakers can sound. These with an Stf-2 or better a pair of STF-2s sound amazing.

Thanks a lot. I might go with what you're getting. Seems like a great deal.

I have to recommend BIC America. IMO, the best bang for your buck out there. Great quality build. Excellent sound. And again, amazing value.
