Default Abandoned Movie Rental Store

This place appears to have been abandoned and remained untouched since the early 2000's.
Interesting little time capsule, I especially liked the Donnie Darko poster hanging from the ceiling.

Is there a sealed Ghostbusters VHS in there somewhere?

Does it have that 'room' at the back? You know, the one with the creaky swing doors?

Legend has it, when the owner closed the store he allowed the employees to take any 3 movies they wanted. One of the kids chose the last sealed VHS copy of Ghostbusters 1 and 2 that had been stashed in the back along with a pristine VHS of Showgirls autographed by Elizabeth Berkley. Nobody's seen or heard from that kid since.

What if the locals who are "protecting" it, are actually protecting anybody who attempts to enter and leave with a movie, because the store is cursed and anybody who's kept a rental from that store ended up with a curse or they disappeared?
Maybe that's why that final copy of Harry Potter was lodged and broken in half in the door outside. Some poor kid's last ditch attempt to lift his curse by jamming it into the door, only to break in half.

What are you referring to? The place where the employees hung out?

In America, the curtained room is where they kept the mucky films.

In the UK, it was on the top shelf.

I used to work at Jumbo Video...their room had the swing doors vs curtains, but as mentioned (and I noticed this at other places as well) the doors creaked like crazy, so the entire store would know whenever anyone went in there.

The video store I worked at had a sliding door. It always made me laugh when dudes would mull around the drama section pretending to browse the titles until the coast was clear for them to slip into that room undetected.

I always wondered what people do with their old media???

I have a bunch of DVDs...but no one is going to buy them from me, and if they did, they wouldn't pay the cost of shipping (which is retarded in Canada). You try selling them for $1 at garage sales, but no one wants them.

And that's DVD's...not even talking about VHS or Laserdisc.

They just sit there, but I don't have the heart to throw them in the garbage because every fibre in my being says that's a crime.

Donate them to the local library. I'm sure they'd love to have it.

Could you donate them to a library?

Hell, if you live in an apartment complex, just put them near the doorway in a box with a Post-it note reading "FREE" attached. I'm sure someone will pick them up. Three of the nicest pieces of furniture I have in my apartment I rescued from the dumpster (well, next to the dumpster ). I picked up a bag full of discarded video games from next to the door a few years ago and turned those into cash at the local Gamestop.

What "obscure shit" do you have? That's the kind of stuff that would actually sell well, compared to run of the mill studio releases.

If you want to ship a single DVD within Canada, it's only $1.94 plus whatever it costs for a padded envelope (you can buy packages of them at Dollarama).

No....you yanks have this 'media rate' thing which is great, but here they charge you by size and weight and we get ****ed as a result.

I've literally offered to 'sell' Laserdiscs to people on here for free plus shipping, and no one wanted to pay the shipping costs.
