??? Hellboy Animated SteelBook ??? (US)

So I noticed this Hellboy Animated re-release a few days ago and just assumed it was a new slip.

However, check out the Diamond Comics solicitation from Previews, via Discount Comic Book Services.

"The two Hellboy Animated films, collected together on Blu-Ray in a handsome Steelbook package!"

I've sent queries out to Anchor Bay via e-mail and Facebook.
It's released next week, so...

if it's true, i wonder will it be released in stores? there is no mention of a steel release for it on this site.

As soon as I saw it I was hoping for a Steelbook, but AB hasn't mentioned it being one on their site. I believe they said it comes with a comic, or something

I just read about this in the May issue of the Previews catalog today. I don't own either Hellboy Animated yet, so a Steel with both would be awesome.

Yeah, I don't mind the extreme close-up as it kind of echoes back to the Hb2 movie/comic cover art.

But what is up with the top of his head?

If it is a steelbook, is it a Diamond exclusive? I was thinking about getting this, as it's $15 on Amazon, but if it turns out to be a steelbook...that would clinch the deal.

Appears that the amaray is due for release on may 13th, and the steelbook follows on June 25th.

Only a guess, but Amazon has a release date of 5/13, and the link, in the OP, from Diamond, say 6/25(as Diamond always delivers the bulk on their orders on Wednesdays). I wish I still had my Diamond account, so I could order this!

Looks like we'll have to wait and see if the June release is a steelbook because the May one isn't.

I really don't think there will be a SteelBook now.
I think the June date is just a typical scenario with all media releases through Diamond/Previews. They always ship to comic shops later than mass retail outlets.

Does this reissue come with the missing DVD extras? The original Blu-ray release was barebones and was missing all of DVD extras (audio commentaries, featurettes, etc.).

I'm not completely turned off by G1 packaging, but at the same time, part of me feels rather relieved that I didn't buy this

You're not looking at the steelbook edition.It won't be released until the end of June.

Where did I say I was? I was talking about the release shown above. I considered buying it a few times because I liked the movies, the cover art, and the price was decent, but I never ended up pulling the trigger. The foil treatment sounds really nice too, it's just unfortunate that they made it G1 sized.

Part of my post above was actually discussing the possibility of trimming off the blue banner to make it BD sized, but then I realized it still wouldn't be enough so I deleted that part.

Ha, I had the same thought for a moment, and also putting it in a red hd-dvd case.
Just wouldn't work...
