Default Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- confirmed for PS4

Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- was confirmed for PS4 at a Sony event in Japan this morning.

The Arc System Works-developed brawler was announced a while back, but today the cel-shaded scrapper was confirmed for a PS4 release.

Here's a trailer from earlier in the year

Looks really cool. Would rather get a BlazBlue fighting game but this looks like fun.

Well BlazBlue has a new PS3 exclusive title that has been in the works for awhile now. Though just like the previous games, it will probably be ported to PSP and PS Vita.

Nice, I used to love Guilty Gear, stopped playing it once PS3 rolled around. Playing it in 1080p sounds sumptious, especially with metal witch I-No.

Today, IGN can confirm that Guilty Gear Xrd SIGN is coming to North America, and will be available this fall for both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. The game will be localized and published by Aksys, a publisher with a proud lineage of bringing niche Japanese titles to western players. The status of its release in other western territories, including Europe, is still unknown.

Since Guilty Gear first launched in 1998, the series has been developed by fighting game studio Arc System Works, and Guilty Gear Xrd SIGN is no different. It's set a year after Guilty Gear 2: Overture, in the year 2187, and includes 15 playable characters, including an all-new antagonist, Ramlethal Valentine.

According to Aksys, Guilty Gear Xrd SIGN will retain some of the franchise's signature systems, such as Roman Cancels, but that many of these systems have been "significantly expanded and improved." Arc System Work's beautiful 2D art and animations will again be a focal point of the game, and Daisuke Ishiwatari, long-time Guilty Gear composer, is again in charge of the soundtrack.

Guilty Gear Xrd SIGN will be playable at E3, and we'll have more information about the game at that time. In the meantime, check out our Guilty Gear Xrd SIGN image gallery for the very first batch of screens.

Awesome news. Was starting to think this was a 2015 game for NA. Now just bring on a fight stick for this and Mortal Kombat 10 and I'm good.

Some new Guilty Gear Xrd info rolling in in regards to the PS3/PS4 home release.

As expected, there will be new characters for the console versions, and the PS4 version will run in 1080p.

Perhaps the bigger news is that Xrd will feature crossplay between the PS3 and PS4 versions of the game. Unexpected but welcome news.

I definitely like the look of the new Gunner girl. The Limited Edition does seem nice with having an artbook and soundtrack, but have no need for a keychain. But if the Limited Edition is Amazon exclusive, then I will just stick with the regular edition of the game.

Not totally the same thing but close enough. However it is a limited edition exclusive to Japan and PS4.

Have they announced a release date for the West yet? I looked it up and only found the Japanese release date in December.

Just Fall/Winter 2014 so far. I'm guessing Nov or December unless they delay it.
