Default You've only seen the 3D version?

What are films where you have only seen the 3D version of it? I'm talking a mix of in theaters and at home.

Mine-
Beowulf
The Hobbit: A.U.E
Star Trek Into Darkness (though going in 2D with a co-worker this afternoon)
Life of Pi

Those might be the only ones for me. A lot of other films I loved in 3D I've seen at least once in 2D in theaters because somebody in the group shot down 3D (Amazing Spidey, Avengers, Prometheus). Well actually, Google showtimes ruined Prometheus for a number of people. It said 3D but it was not. My friends and I weren't the only ones upset.

But yeah, I like knowing that I've only seen Hobbit in 3D. What films have you never watched in 2D?

Prometheus, John Carter, and The Immortals. Missed all of these at the movies and purchased only the 3D disc.

Hugo. But I've only seen it once. If I watch it again, and I will, it will be in 2D.

Conan - first time was in 3D, and the film was so terrible I will never watch it again.

Hoodwinked Too - Same as above.

Drive Angry - Same as Hugo.

Lots of documentaries I rented, so pretty much the same as Hugo, although a few I'll never watch again, not 'cause they were bad, but because I've seen them.

Iron Man 3 - Saw in theatres, only once. Terrible 3D, good movie. Day one 2D purchase for me.

Um... there's more.

The Final Destination - Saw once in theatres. Totally sucked. Never again.

Up - Same as Final Destination.

Space Station and Cirque du Soleil: Journey of Man - Both IMAX movies.

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island - Seen once at home, same deal as Hugo though, but I'm not as amped for a second viewing.

I've only seen the first half of The Hobbit in 3D, and switched to 2D for the second half. Any time I watch it in the future will be the full feature in 2D.

The only 3D movies I HAVE seen in their 2D versions were The Avengers and Star Trek.
And then, in both cases, because it was a group going out for a movie night, nobody could be there in time for the 3D screening, and we thought it would be cheaper anyway. Fortunately, I'd already seen the 3D Avengers, and for Trek, there's always the Blu 3D.

The only 3D movies I have watched in 2D are the older re-releases like Titanic. Tangled is probably the only one I have seen in 2D. I've probably watched 90% of the movies in 3D so far that are available.

In theaters anyway, every movie I want to see that's offered in 3D, is seen in 3D without hesitation, unless the 3D in the preview doesn't look hopeful.

The Lone Ranger and Elsyium (spelling) won't be in 3D sadly. Only the 2D version offered. I'll still check 'em out though.

Yeah see with a lot of recent films, I've seen 2D at least once (Spider-Man, Avengers, MIB). For example, I have one friend who wears glasses who likes 3D, but sparingly. He got ruined by Transformers 3, so now when a movie like Avengers comes out he says 'things will be moving too fast. I want to go in 2D'.

Also, there were some films where I saw them in 3D in theaters, then in 2D at home because I didn't have 3DTV at the time (Avatar, Tangled, Tron Legacy)

This. Better thread title would be what 3D movies have you watched in 2D.

True that but I can't change thread title.

Went to "Man of Steel" tonight in 2D. Wanted to see it in 3D but a couple things worked against me. the 3D was at 8 and 2D at 8:30 and given that my two friends and I went to dinner in the same mall as the theater gave us time to not rush. Plus, turns out one friend already went in 3D and said 'Glad we're going in 2D. 3D not worth it'. The 3D trailers I'd seen looked impressive to me so whatever. I'll probably take my father to see it in 3D.

Question 3D movies so good that they shouldn't exist (or aren't worth watching) in 2D

Hey,

I've been watching quite a lot of 3D and some movies just seem like they shouldn't exist in 2D.

For example Sanctum ... 3D is so essential to this one ... If you see in in 2D I think you got robbed.

Gravity also comes to mind.

Spy Kids 3D and Shark Boy and Lava Girl ... also lose too much in 2D plus with those ... they are just 3D demos for the most part... Those clearly "need" the 3D.

Shouldn't exist is probably going a bit over the top, 3D being essential sounds much better.
I completely agree with Gravity though it was the most immersive movie I have seen to date, it also made great use of the surround sound.

Sanctum was atrocious in whatever format.

I liked Gravity in 2D just as much as 3D and apart from about 2 scenes I didn't think the weak 3D really offered anything to the film.

The last 2 titles should never have been made in the first place....

My Bloody Valentine is probally the only one i can think of at all. It played to the 3D wasnt a very good movie and has the best 3D of any movie ive seen start to finish because it was shot in 3D

Default Inferno

The 1950s classic Inferno. 3D perfectly captures the inferior mirage effect of a very hot climate. (The air looks wavy). 2D just can't capture the effect.
