Default Rescue Dawn or Live Free or Die Hard?

I plan on getting both of these titles eventually but which one should I get first?
Which movie is better and which has the best PQ

thanks

Well it depends on which mood you're in. They both have great PQs, but they're different styles. Rescue Dawn is in the jungle so it has a feel very much like Apocalypto, and LFDH has a darker yet still vivid picture. RD is much more serious and has a better story imo, but it's a survivors tale and it can be very depressing. LFDH has a more mindless action plot which is great to just sit down and enjoy. It's a hard descision because I decided to buy them both too, but I received RD first. I just let you decide.

Watching Rescue Dawn as I type... Great so far!! I'll be buying the Die Hard set eventually... Die Hard was a good movie but Christian Bale is an awesome actor!

i would get die hard... It' is a way more enjoyable movie in my opinion. I haven't seen the blu-ray yet, but from what i've heard it's definately an upgrade from dvd. Rescue dawn it a well made movie, but is just too depressing and monotonous for repeat viewings. I like christian bale, and steve zahn also puts in a great performance; but they can't keep the film from seeming much more like a documentary than an actual hollywood film. In short i'd go with die hard. Hope this helps...

I wonder if he had to starve himself to loose weight and look starved, he did a good job

I think Bale is one of the hardest working actors today. He went from the Machinist to Batman Begins...I think he was down to 129 pounds and came back up to 185 or something like that. Steve Zahn was awesome in this movie to as well as Jeremy Davies...they all were very genuine when they were in the Laotian camp.

If you look at the extras, they pretty much all did except for one guy who was in the hospital, almost died, and basically got out of the hospital early to do the movie (according to him). The director was worried about Jeremy Davies and asked him not to lose any more weight. I don't think I am giving anything away, but they filmed the scenes where they all looked starved first, since fattening back up can be done much quicker without too much risk of dying.

This is one movie where I really enjoyed the extras. I was surprised at how much they went through to make this movie authentic.

I Agree. Both great PQ..two very different movies. If I could only pick one for now it would be Live Free or Die Hard.

Very different movies, Live Free or Die Hard is an excellent action flick, I have yet to see Rescue Dawn but hear that it is very good as well, with some amazing acting (Christian Bale), more the drama I think.

Cool

I'll be the oddball and say I liked Rescue Dawn better. Great performances, great story, just a great movie. And it's filmed in the 1.85 aspect ratio which means the stellar bluray transfer fills the entire screen, if you care about things like that.

don't forget about The Prestige...

he actually acts instead of being the same person in every movie...

he gets into his role...

not to mention he's underrated as underrated can ever get....

Weird, I just came back from the store and it came down to Die Hard 2 "Die Harder" or Rescue Dawn. I've heard great things about RD, but I promised myself I wouldn't buy anymore movies before watching them when I switched over to Blu-ray. I needed DH2 to complete the set anyways.

I'd go with LFDH. I think it has better replay value based on what I've heard and read about RD.

is that even a question? Die hard sucked. Go with Rescue Dawn. A bad movie as zero value, which is still less than the small amount of replay value of Rescue Dawn

I have not had a chance to see Die Hard yet but RESCUE DAWN I did watch. The story is good, the acting from Bale is excellent and the picture quality is excellent as well. An easy recommend for me.

Rescue Dawn is the better film and the Blu-ray version of LFDH isn't the uncut version, so it's an easy choice.
