ok so i dont have a receiver with hdmi input...so im using my optical input to get my DD5.1....now iv seen this receiver on best buy $205

and based on the reviews...pple are sayin that they can only get the video thru the hdmi and no audio thru the surround speakers...........wats up with that....does have to do with hdmi3.1 thingy...and if i buy will my sp3 output the uncompressed 5.1

i need a ncie receriver that is not hard on the pockets...any suggestions?

HDMi supports HD video and audio.

the receiver should also. They just don't know any better.
A lot of people who even work at the stores selling this stuff did not know that HDMI is for BOTH audio and video.. one cable, whole package.

Go to the store and try it out. Make sure it does everything you want it to do.

it might only be passing through the hdmi, and not processing the audio. i like my yamaha rx-v661 alot, and you can get it from yamaha authorized e-tailers for under $400 delivered.

yeah dats what they said,,,,,its hdmi pass through or something,,,and u need a coaxial or optical cable to get eh audio.................

but the ps3 is hdmi 3.1 right ......

so shouldnt i get the audio too

It is only 5.1. Save a little more and get an Onkyo Tx-SR605. J&R and BHPhoto usually has it on sale for $300. Be patient and check out the sites over the next five days.
