Default First time with The Shield (please use spoilers)

Just got done watching the pilot of The Shield and wow that was an amazing episode. I loved when the captain brought Vic in to
[Show spoiler]get the location of the girl from the doctor
. I kinda saw the ending coming once I saw him
[Show spoiler]meet the captain to try and bring Vic down
.

Can't wait to really dive into the series starting tomorrow night. One of the best cop shows IMO so far.

Well, since you've started just remember that even if you think the show is lagging, stick with it. One of the best series finales ever.

Agreed, one of the best series ever made, when you think the show loses steam, it will pick up and won't let go until the final episode.

For you Sons of Anarchy fans, Kurt Sutter who among writing, producing and directing some of the best episodes of The Shield, also made his acting debut in Season 1, Episode 5 "Blowback" just look for
[Show spoiler]Margos Dezerian the psycho Armenian with the foot fetish
.

I just started as well. Was thinking about making a topic, but didn't.

I'm about to start the fourth episode.

Yeah, I don't see the Blu's being that much better. The show was shot full of grain and the audio isn't going to improve, as most of it was filmed before the HD-codecs.

It's great, but I don't see them putting a ton of money into upgrading it.

Maybe I should re-visit this show...it is really good!

Lossless is lossless. You don't record movies in DTSHD-MA ya know. The show would benefit a lot from HD audio. It was also filmed on 16mm, so it would be a minimal improvement.

Fantastic series.

Unfortunately, it's not hitting Blu-Ray any time soon (if at all)....per Shawn Ryan and Sony for this very reason. Which is a total bummer.

I have a terrible memory, you watch Sons right? Anyways, seeing Sutter as an Armenian is nuts!

After watching The Shield and seeing what Sutter is capable of, I guarantee you are going to want to jump aboard the SAMCRO train right after. I haven't steered you wrong yet, and The Shield is my all-time favorite show, and Sons is definitely making it's way into the top 5 of all-time for me as well. There is just so much brilliance behind both. But my god are all 7 seasons of The Shield insane! I am a big fan of Justified and after so many years of Walton Goggins as Shane it was great to see him on another great show. Kenny Johnson aka Lemonhead aka Lem also joined the cast of SOA last season and remained through this past season.

Cool can't wait to start watching it. Can't believe until recently I only watched network shows and didn't even really bother or know anything about cable shows. Boy what I have been missing out on.

A few years ago, The Shield and The Sopranos where the only shows I ever bothered with on cable, but than they just kept getting better and better, and now cable makes up some of my all-time favorites while network has a select few of the great ones, it's mostly outnumbered by the incredible amount of cable shows that are making their way into the mainstream. There are a lot of people who still think reality tv is the best thing out there and are completely missing what cable has to offer. My mind has been blown the last few years by some of the new ventures that have been taken by cable.

Wow...only watched network shows....F/X and AMC have been kicking ass over the last few years. TNT even has some good shows...and don't forget Burn Notice on USA.

AMC
Mad Men
Breaking Bad
The Walking Dead

F/X
Sons of Anarchy
The Shield
Rescue Me
Justified
Nip/Tuck
Damages

TNT
The Closer
Men of a Certain Age
Saving Grace

USA
Monk
Psych
Burn Notice
Stephen King's The Dead Zone

Not that I've watched them all....but the ones I have are damn good. And I've heard good things about most of them.

As for the absolute best cable as to offer, I will agree with the highlighted.
