Angry anybody have sony bdp s3200

so back on june 14 i decided to get sony bdp s3200 because my samsung bdem57c was duying giving me problems

however i didn't know that there was a hiccup on this system being a 2014 model and all it seems it doesn't want to resume playback on certain older fox bluray titles that bave resume back feature

4 movies that don't resume back are unstoppable wall street money never sleeps alien movies from alien anthology william shakesphere romeo + juliet so far

problem is if i play 1 of these movies stop play again asked want to resume playback yes or no yes is highlighted what happens instead resumes jumps to menu

i took unstoppable to electronic express yesterday afteroon guy hook up 3200 play unstoppable went to a scene stop movie and play again sure enough jumps to menu tried to network update firmware same thing

now the key word is certain it resumes fine star war movies willow carrie remake avatar so far

lets see here if alien anthology came out oct 26 2010 star wars complete saga sept 16 2011 why i cannot resume any of alien movies i don't know

the sorry part is that unstoppable did resumes on samsung bdem57c it resumes on a samsung c5900 and a sony bx110 that came out last year

so its not older firmware nor firmware update came out in march its something within the machine that screwing up resume back feature on certain older fox bluray titles and sony is too sorry to admit it

with a email saying I do understand your concern. However, as of now, we do not have any official information regarding the update. So, I request you to wait for the update. You will get the notification once the update is available. I will take your feedback regarding this and forward to the concern department as soon as possible.

Please accept our apologize for any inconvenience and disappointment this may have caused.

that's crap of course i can bookmark on some of these movies that don't resumes jumps to menu but i don't do that

thinking if i try to find a bluray player came out last year prob won't have a problem resuming playback on the movies giving me problems

Question can sombody tell me if sony bluray players 2014 has problems resume playback fox

i know i asked this and nobody hasn't answer me yet previous thread

i'm trying to find an answer onto why my 3200 that i bought back last month on the 14th isn't going to resume back on certain older fox bluray titles

i have been over to electronic express this past thursday they hook up 3200

played unstoppable which suppose to have resume playback on it when press yes or center remote control yes is highlighted suppose to resume back jumps to menu

now i know its not due to firmware update came out in march because i went over to electronic express thursday they hook 3200 put in unstoppable in jumps to menu older firmware so updated firmware by network same thing

unstoppable does resume back on other bluray players and a sony bluray player bx110 that came out last year

i can resume star wars just fine btw and another fox bluray title like alien anthology i cannot resume back any of the movies

only option i have right now is bookmark

i have talk to sony yesterday they think i should wait oct-dec next firmware update if does resume playback that's good if not there's a problem

so i'm trying to figure out if its just my bluray player 3200 or there's a hiccup with right now on 2014 bluray players from sony

if somebody on this board can help resolved this issue who has any sony bluray players that came out this year would be nice

in mean time i don't know if should wait try to get another sony bluray player came out last year or get a different player different company not big fan of samsung f5700 looks dumb

perhaps i should get an lg player or something like that

please help me folks i actually signed up here to get some help on player btw

It does not matter if you have a 2006 model Blu-ray player or a modern 2014 Blu-ray player when it comes to the issue of resume playback. Resume playback after stopping the movie and resuming it, is a feature based on the Blu-ray title itself and not the player. For example, some of the first Blu-ray titles that came out in 2006 and 2007 did not use java code and they offered resume playback. Then in late 2007 almost all new Blu-ray titles used a java code that did not allow resume playback. However, the good news is that almost all new Blu-ray titles in the last 2-3 years contain a special java code that offers resume playback.

Therefore, when purchasing Blu-ray titles that were released over 2 years ago from certain studios there is no resume playback. Some consumers setup manual bookmarks to mark their favorite place in the movie before stopping the movie.

Resume playback is an issue that was fixed with the latest Blu-ray titles released in the last 2-3 years, there is nothing one can do about older Blu-ray titles that do not have the proper java code for resume playback.

well if its feature based resume playback then why doesn't it want to resume like it should on 3200 jumps to menu after yes is highlighted press play or center remote control works fine star wars after i play it few mins stop play movie again saying want to resume back yes or no does resume however fire up any alien movies play it few mins stop play it again do you want to resume yes is highlighted i press play or center remote control it jumps to menu but yet if i play those disc from alien anthology on an older player samsung or a sony player came out last year it will resume just fine

OPPO, Sony, and Panasonic in my expereince have less bugs and are more reliable. As you mentioned there are resume play problems on some Blu-ray players, the reason being bad buggy firmware or incompatible issues with bad buggy java code.

Normally when looking for a Blu-ray player I am interested in the build quality, picture quality, sound quality, reliability, etc. I have never had to test the resume play function when selecting a Blu-ray player since that is something that should work all the time with a Blu-ray title that offers that feature.

You might want to try installing a 1GB or larger USB flash drive on some of the Blu-ray players to see if the resume play feature starts working again, since some Blu-ray players might be using the persistent storage to install the resume play java code when the disc is loading. I have never had a problem with resume play not working on an OPPO, Sony, or Panasonic, however I also have external flash drives or hard drives installed on all my Blu-ray players. Some older 2010 model Blu-ray players had 1GB of internal persistent storage built into the Blu-ray player, however now 99% of the Blu-ray players on the market require 1GB or larger external flash memory for BD-LIVE to work and some other java based features need persistent storage. Clearing the persistent BD-LIVE storage in the Blu-ray player can sometimes fix java glitches with resume play not working.

If after trying an external FAT32 flash drive 1GB or larger, and you are still having problems with resume play not working, then you can call the Blu-ray player manufactory and request a firmware update to fix the problem. The best solution would be to take the Blu-ray player back to the store and try another Blu-ray player that works with the resume play feature, since there is no guarantee that a future firmware update will fix the issue.

well I do have 16gb usb flash drive 2.0 it seems walmart doesn't have any older sony bluray players anymore only 2014 models now

I have tired clearing usb flash drive that doesn't work nor factory reset and unplug and replug unit

so basically I'm screwed don't want to have Samsung newest one bluray player looks dumb in your humble opinion do you think its a waste of time waiting until oct-dec see if next firmware player does resume fox if not then asked for new bluray player

also what would you recommend an older sony bluray player came out last year like sony 5100 3d bluray player or some other product like lg player

please help me I'm very mad about this situation sony recommend me to wait until mid oct-dec see update firmware might help or not btw

If the resume play feature is a very important feature for you then I would be returning every Blu-ray player that did not function correctly until you find one that works under the 30 day retail store return policies. Best Buy might allow you to try their Blu-ray players before purchasing one, not all of them are hooked up in the store (many are cosmetically plastic look a likes on display that do not function to prevent people from shoplifting).

My current Sony 2014 Blu-ray player is currently packed away, and I am not able to test the resume play feature on it with older Fox titles (to many projects going on right now).

If I were in the market for a new Blu-ray player. I would choose the 2013 OPPO BDP-103D for $599. However, my second choice for a Blu-ray player would be the 2014 Sony BDP-S6200 for around $178 at Amazon.

I do not like Samsung and LG Blu-ray players. If you purchase a Sony or Panasonic from Amazon with free shipping option, then if it does not work correctly, you can tell Amazon it is defective and then they will pay for the return shipping.

For now you will just need to pause the Blu-ray discs and unpause it a day later or setup bookmarks before ejecting the disc.
