Possibly. Gormenghast is being remade in the US, maybe the BBC will release to tie in with that.

Well this is a surprise. Tempted but not £15.99 tempted and as it's an upscale I'll wait for reviews rather than preorder.

It looks like this has been timed to tie-in with the Blu-ray release of Gaiman's (and Pratchett's) Good Omens on the same day. I assume Good Omens must be getting shown on BBC Two around the same time.

Says so on the back cover. Usually I don’t buy upscales but the additional extras edge this out to make it worth it.

If so, how does it look re: the upscale quality? I also read that it's not 16:9 as stated on the cover, but actually 4:3 (as shot (which I prefer)).

I got my copy yesterday. I'm very pleased to say it's nothing like The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy botch up. Haven't bought Red Dwarf BD.

It's actually really clean, clear and solid looking. They've done a lot of work on the dynamic range of the picture, there's a lot more clarity. I did an A/B comparison with the DVD and that looks really washed out and a bit bright and faded with quite a bit of ghosting and blurring. The Blu-ray is definitely a huge improvement over the DVD. Worthwhile.

I suspect they've rebalanced or remixed the sound from multitrack; and I suspect that when it was finalised, whoever didn't realise that the ADR track was either absent or muted. Definitely an issue, but it isn't a massive one - once or twice an episode a single word of dialogue is so low in the mix that it sounds absent or extremely quiet, didn't really spoil it for me though.
