Default Halloween Horror Month 2019

Halloween Horror Month 2019

It's that time again, another Halloween Horror Month, trying to watch 31 films in 31 days.
I started doing the challenge in 2012, so this is year #8 for me. It's always fun, watching new horror films and old favourites.

If the film lists horror as it's main, or sub genre it qualifies (and I like to keep it varied). But that's me, set your own rules & targets, it's supposed to be fun after all.
Personally I try for at least 1 per day in October, achievable as a single man without kids, but obviously for those more busy that may be an unrealistic target.
So just watch what you can and enjoy some horror films over October.

To see at a glance what horror titles you have in you collection, the blu-ray.com My Movies app (set to genres > horror) is an easy way to browse quickly.

If this sounds like fun, feel free to join in. I'm starting this year off watching the 1991 classic 'The Silence of the Lambs', and will update the post below with the films viewed throughout the month.

"It places the lotion in the basket."

AKA Titan Find in the UK.

Surprised to see this on Netflix as I've always found this difficult to get a hold of in any decent form. The version on Netflix is 'Creature', in SD/4:3.

I spent a lot of time at my grandparents as a kid, and their parental controls around viewing films was shall we say, fairly liberal. Consequently I pretty much got to watch what I wanted. Saw Terminator when I was 8, Aliens when I was 10 etc. This was the ONLY film that I turned off as it absolutely scared the living sh1t out of me!

Relatively tame these days, and definitely a movie produced on a shoestring, not to mention its highly derivative (polite way of saying it rips off plenty of other movies). That being said, I still find it watchable, and it would be nice to see a HD version of this from the likes of 88 or Arrow.

I'd love to join in, but I live with my fiancee who's not really a horror fan. I'll still try to sneak a few in, and I'll also play some thematically appropriate video games.

If you can hit personal targets, that great, but just have fun with it.
Maybe your fiancee would be up for horror comedies like 'Beetlejuice'.

Excellent - I've deferred watching some BDs until this came around again. I'm aiming to mostly watch films that I haven't watched before.

First time for me.

Mad at myself for not bothering any of the previous years to be honest, but that changes from this point onwards!
I plan to watch at least one film each day, possibly two. Anyway, to get things rolling...

True, we watched One Cut of the Dead recently, and she liked it. She'll even enjoy a proper horror from time to time, the hard part is getting her to watch anything if she knows that it's a horror ahead of time. "Nekromantik? Well, you see, it's sort of a romance movie..."

But Beetlejuice is a good suggestion, thanks, I've been meaning to watch that with her for a while.

Reminds me of when Mrs Spectre suckered me into taking her to see BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN at the cinema by describing it to me as a “cowboy film”.....

Not a patch on the original of course, but still a great film.

This was my third time watching it, and it’s still a brilliant movie IMO. Love the book as well and I’m a sucker for nostalgia.

Watched Part 1 of this, will watch Part 2 tomorrow night. Thought it was alright, really enjoyed the practical effects.

I completely forgot we were into Halloween month again. How time flies.

Well, I just got this yesterday so it seems a good place to get started...

I always see threads like this and never get round to taking part in one. So gonna give it a go this time

I'm going to try and use it as a good excuse to finally get round to watching some films I've not seen, or ticking off all those Blu-rays I've accumulated from Arrow sales and not given a spin yet. I'll specify if it's a first watch or a re-watch on my list. So first up...

Really enjoyed this one. Fun, smart and full of heart. Thought it had a great lead performance from Jessica Rothe and a really likable cast of supporting characters. Might have to add the sequel to my line-up.
