I don't think so, but usually there should be a thread at the Hot Deals Forum.

Isn't Earth just footage from Planet Earth re-cut with a different voice over?

At least it may the first time that PE is correctly transfered. Don't get me wrong it's nice.. but i watched some part last month and the amount of compression arfefact in that serie is mindblowing..

It is EXACTLY the same footage with a couple different "angles" thrown in for good measure. I couldn't wait to see this in the theatre, and then was irritated because I could have stayed home and watched P.E with better sound. IMO if you already have P.E, then you are all set!

Better sound?! I sure hope that's not the case! PE has only Dolby Digital, the blu-ray of Earth has lossless audio.

I still have not seen Planet Earth. I understand 'Earth' is an abridged version of PE w/ a new narrator for the US edition...w/ this version mainly following 3 family species on their varied travels.

However my question is this: Is it like 'Arctic Tale' where it followed several species, but the story was made up? In that doc they just edited footage to come up w/ a story to pull the audience in, with many of the events that unfolded not actually happening the way we're led to believe

Is 'Earth' the same thing...a made-up story? Or is it a continuous series of events that happened the way we are shown (at least per species)?

Yeah, the advertisment on TV looks like it was PE.

I had the same misgivings about this movie being a big fan of Planet Earth. I took several kids aged 5-7 to see Earth, and they were completely transfixed by this movie. They laughed, sat on the edge of their seats, and loved every minute of it. They get bored with Planet Earth. If you have kids, I'd say this is a must own.

It's not all recycled PE footage, from what I've read there is some new stuff, though not enough to warrant a purchase from me.

There is some new footage, but it is mostly recycled. I'd rather just put that money towards the Planet Earth set.

While it was a little disapointing when I discovered this in theaters, it was still nice seeing Planet Earth footage on the "Big Screen."

Getting Planet Earth in a week or so, so Planet Earth after all that has been said is NO for me, even with the $10 off.

I have PE and there's no need for me to buy, but this is a good alternative to buy rather than spending $40+ on Planet Earth.

I went to see this in the theater thinking "Cool, Planet Earth footage on a big screen".

Wasnt enough fresh material there to keep me interested despite the big screen. If you own Planet Earth, this will feel like a rehash, as most of it is.

I dont own Planet earth(not sure if I want to pay the price) so with the $10 coupon this seems like a good alternative I am sure the PQ on this is top notch.
