Default Mods Stop Moving So Many Threads

This board is often way over-moded. Get over yourselves. Why move the Toshiba thread to off-topic? It's relevant discussion to Blu-ray format adoption.

The reason threads are being moved and merge is because there is way too much thread on the same subject and the Mods try to keep the threads in there specific areas of interest.

All boards like these have gestapo power-trip types. you have to get used to it. It's their board to do what they want. I guess if you don't like it build your own. Not that it makes what they do "not ghey"....

You have to learn to post in the correct forum, this thread was for instance created in the "General Discussions" forum, while it should have been created in the "Feedback" forum

If a thread is about Toshiba/HD-DVD, then it's mostly moved to the "Off Topic" forum. If a thread is about Toshiba/HD-DVD, but directly related to Blu-ray (comparisons etc), then it might stay... it's a fine line that we are trying to balance on.

This has also been answered numerous times, so try to use search as well

I don't really mind it when threads are moved. My only annoyance is that when it IS moved, there's no notification. Example, a thread I was viewing this morning got moved and thankfully I found where it was moved to, otherwise I would have lost it completely.

p.s. Love Iceman's response

That's what you get for not using the Thread Tools option that allows you to subscribe to a thread.

Anyway, good answer by Iceman...I do know quite a few topics that are about Tosh that is not in the Off-topic section.

The reason why it matters is that most people don't view off-topic forum. The poster of the Toshiba thread was obviously referring to its effect on Blu-ray adoption which is a relevant general topic. It's stupid to draw a fine line.

Instead, you should encourage people to rate threads and the board becomes somewhat self-regulating. Threads should only be moved if they are causing problems. It needs to be a rarely used option in my view. Otherwise you're going to drive away the traffic.

If the owners of the site want to sell it, then send me a private message.

Default Definition of "etc." in General Discussion Thread Description

Wouldn't discussing the effect of Toshiba strategy on Blu-ray adoption be "etc."?

I didn't move that thread, but I believe it was moved because it has also been discussed numerous times and that we in general don't want to talk about HD-DVD.

If you do like to talk about Toshiba/HD-DVD-related topics on this site, I recommend that you keep an eye in the Off Topic forum, where there can sometimes be interesting discussions. The "HD rant thread" can for instance contain interesting stuff. If it's interesting, relevant and good, then it will probably be kept in the "General Discussion" forum... like I said, it's a fine line

Posting things like that in other threads is completely uncalled for. The mods are doing the best they can, it's very difficult to moderate this forum with the ongoing format war, but I believe the mods are doing a great job.

In general 99.99999% of the Blu-ray people really like our site and most of the HD-DVD fanboys seem to really dislike it, so I guess we are doing a good job

It's not "etc.". If we want discussions about Toshiba/HD-DVD then we would have written that. Notice that we haven't written HD-DVD on any forum description.

An example of HD DVD being discussed in the general discussion forum:

BTW, for the OP, you sure are demanding (i.e. the subject of this thread) for someone who has only posted 38 times since July.
