Unhappy Best Player?

Hi

I am having a very big problem with buying a blu-ray player because i do not know which one is best. I have a 40" 1080p samsung and thought a samsung would have been better but apparently not.

I saw a new samsung bluray and hd player but i am not sure what one to buy, so far i have rested on buying a PS3 but can anyone give me some advice on what to buy?! Please!

Panasonic DMP-BD30.

I'm sure others will come with the technical specifications, but alas, I am doing a project deadlined for Tuesday so I'm going to make it brief.

As a standalone there is nothing better for the price. $500. Lightning quick load times. Amazing PQ, better than PS3. No compatibility issues like the Sonys and Samsungs.

As a proud owner and former owner of the Panasonic 10AK, I highly recommend their products.

I totally agree. The Panasonic 30 is the best on the market today for under $500 I own and have owned Samsung, PS3, Sony BDP-S300 and Panasonic DMP-BD10A. Hands down the 30.

cool. i have never owned a panasonic. but there are a few down points like the firmware update.

Does this player play blu ray dvds that have been writen personally and cds that have been made on your home computer etc.?

What would you say is the best point of this bd player that makes it better than the rest?

Firmware updates are for all Blu-Ray players.

CDs I made worked fine on my 10, havent tried the 30 - and as well as self-made Blu-Rays, I have no idea.

And, I already made those points as to why you should pick it as your stand alone,

I have the new sharp BD HP20, I like it a lot. I don't have an amazing stereo system though, just my CD player hooked up to my TV so I am not sure of all the sound options that this player has, But it is fast for sure. Not as fast as my ps3 but def faster than a lot of other BD players.

I'd say the two to have on your shortlist are the Pioneer Elite '95 and the Panasonic '30. I have a PS3 myself, and it's a fine machine, but if you want the best Blu-ray playback right now, and aren't interested in games and the other stuff the PS3 can do, go for either of those two.

I agree 100%. If video and audio quality are the paramount concerns, the Pioneer Elite BDP-95HD is unbeatable right now, though it comes at a price. For compatibility with Profile 1.1 (ie. PIP), then the Panasonic BD30 is the only game in town. The BD30 is also quite capable with bitstream audio out and pretty quick loading times. Oh yeah, and it's half the price of the Pioneer.

The panasonic is the best deal out there for a standalone right now. There is really only one drawback with it and that is audio decoding. If you donot have a 1.3 receiver to hook it upto the best sound you will get is DD and DTS core.

As has been pointed out you will not get away from FW updates at least for awhile still.

Just 5 days ago, I became a proud and happy owner of the new Panny 30.
The Panny 30 ROCKS!!!! Does everything the Pioneer Elite 95 does at half the price. Even better, the Panny loads waaaay faster than the Pio.
Panny 30 has awesome PQ and SQ, and it is absolutely quiet!!!
Don't walk -- RUN -- and get the Panny 30!!

Jodi

Not quite everything the 95 does but if you have a 1.3 receiver then they are for the most part the same.
