Already got the MOC release of this but still glad to see that its finally getting a release on this side of the pond.
Surprised that Fox is doing it themselves and not through another distributor!

Figures I just ordered the import this morning. Just cancelled it and will wait a little bit longer for the US release.

With rumors about Nosferatu also for this fall, wonder how long it will be before we get City Girl in the states.

Good news, though I'd be surprised if it trumps the existing MoC release, which is already excellent, and has 2 versions of the movie, and solid extras.

After reading the positive comments regarding the MOC release, I have decided not to cancel my order of it.

Seems odd that anyone would wait for this when the MOC is readily available and a great product. I do find it strange that Fox is releasing this instead of some label like Criterion or Kino.

I would imagine this is going to be a duplicate of the MoC release since even MoC's version duplicates everything from the Murnau/Borzage/Fox DVD box set.

Great news, though. While I love the MoC edition, which is region free, the lack of a US release hides the film from a lot of its audience not aware of importing.

Some of us also do not have region-free players or have the funds to import at this time. I also hope that this release is a straight port of the MOC edition: both cuts of the film, free of DNR and destructive digital manipulation. That might be a bit hard for Fox, though.

The MoC edition is region free (as the person you quoted even said), and only costs about $19 to import

It's October and still no details? This is unusual for Fox.

Sigh indeed.

At least the MOC release is available, and region free for those whom are region-locked on this side of the pond...

+1 on both (and I have the MoC). Just when Fox seemed to be getting it together...

Luckily for me I just started importing. The MOC release is going on my list.

I hope this is only for the sake of improving the release and not a complete cancelation, for those who don't import.
