Default Who else alphabetizes their BD's?

I recently decided to alphabetize my collection.. just to make it look neat and it's also more convenient now to find the movie I wanna watch. i was just wondering if anybody else does this. i'm always trying to think up new ideas of how I can make my beautiful collection of BLU look even better!

Yeah, I do that with mine. But with only 21 BDs, it's not hard to find what you're looking for if they're mixed up.

However, with all the BOGOs lately, that number is rising.

I have always done that with DVDs, CDs etc.

Of course there are some tough decisions to make - do I keep the Indiana Jones movies as a set or file them individually by title? If I keep sets together, do the Star Wars flicks go in numerical, chronological or alphabetical order?

Oh the stress...

I did, but now i have them in order of Genre.
Plus I separate the ones I have watched with those on the "to watch" list (which gets smaller every other day).

Oh yeah...definitely.

I have my DVDs alphabetized, my blu-rays alphabetized separately, and my games as well.

yep, usually everything for me too.

I got to a point with my DVDs where I separated off the TV shows, anime, animation, etc. away from the 'regular' movies.

I'm sure I'll do this at some point with my BDs as well, but my collection is small enough right now where I'm fine with keeping everything together as one.

I try to do that until I have way too many and it becomes a chore to reorganize my collection everytime I add a new title.

Chronological to the story line, as I presume you have done. This question is kind of like asking who ties their own shoes?

I have filed in order because of the chronogical order of the story line...
* The Terminator
* T2
* Terminator 3
If I went purely by logical alphabetizing it would be...
* T2
* Terminator 3
* The Terminator

However, considering how the movies play out, it would almost still make sense to watch them in that order due to the time travel theme.

You would have to be a completely anal librarian to ignore the chronology of the story line and simply order by alphabet.

Indiana Jones films should go as a set and the Star Wars should go numerically

BTW I also Alpha my collection. I dont do this anymore with my DVDs though only my Blus and PS3 games.

I do now. I started trying to sort by genre but that didn't work because there were too many borderline cases, crossovers etc. (Does Evil Dead 2 go with the comedies or the horror films?). Also perhaps some conceptual difficulties taxonomizing the genres. (Is the Western a subgenre of the Action Film?)

ahh i hate that, my roommate does that all the time. I do run into a few situations going alphabetically, like do Flags of Our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima go together? Should Death Proof and Planet Terror go together? Evil Dead and Army of Darkness? And for the longest time I had El Mariachi/Desperado/Once Upon A Time In Mexico right before Elf, because of El Mariachi, then I realized, El is The in Spanish, so technically it would go before The Matrix.

...I think a better question would be who DOESN'T alphabetize their BDs?

I do, but I have adopted somewhat the same way as cptgreedle. they're alphabetized, but I put the unwatched titles at the end.

mystik,
it doesn't make you or I a neat freak. I believe the term (for me at least) is obsesssive compulsive disorder. when I play poker I have to keep my chips all seperated and the stacks the same height. I will bet extra just to make my chip stacks even.

Technically, if you are truly alphabetizing, you leave the, a and an off the beginning of the title, so Terminator would come before Terminator 3.

But to answer the question, NO, I do not alphabetize, but I do group series of movies or TV shows together so they are easier to find. Maybe one of these days, but I have too many DVDs to even think about that right now. I guess I could start with the BD and keep going, but I would probably get too lazy and just start sliding them in next to each other as I buy them.
