Default Audio & Video HT : Cavallaro Reference

Hello ! My name is Stéfano Cavallaro , IM an Industrial Designer and live in Argentina. Here is my Reference Room , which is the result of a family project that evolved over time.
I really don't have the time nor patience to detail all the construction of the room in the post , I hope you excuse me for that.
Instead I've made a PDF whitepaper with all the project details...the Only bummer is that its in Spanish ( and IM not thinking about translating it myself by this time ). So if you are an "amigo" you will be able to read it haha.

Online link : http://www.slideshare.net/stefanocav...rence-proyecto

For everybody else , here are some photos of the finished room and some others of the construction stage.
I do hope you like it and find it useful !!

Different ambiance and lightning configurations

Backlight music artworks

Soundproof door. Designer and built by ourselves . The bigger section weights almost 100kg and its between 12cm and 16cm thick

Beautiful Russian Valve 6N6P , bypassing Cd player PCB amplification

Hand made reference quality cables

Music and movie collection

Projector + custom screen + blu ray image quality screenshots

Some photos from the construction stage

Here comes the messy and ugly part haha

And last but not least , The Proud Builders !

I hope you liked it !

Hello Stéfano and welcome to our HT Galleries!

Your room looks very nice and I can see that you poured a lot of time and effort into building it. How are you liking the performance of the audio and video now that it's all done?

Billy13 thank you for such a warm welcome !

Johnny Vinyl thanks you too , and that is an excellent question.
Im deeply satisfied on how its sounds and the picture quality. From day 1 of project it was our goal to achieve a high quality standard , im very picky ( almost a ***** haha). Once we finished construction and post setup/calibration , the results exceeded my expectations , so im really happy everything turned out perfect. It has been a leap of faith , it could have turned not to sound and look nice...but it didn't This is the best phrase i could think about if i want to describe its performance “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts”

Talking about sound , it is very natural , has amazing spatiality and separation , sweet highs , rich mids and authority bass. Everything feels so correct , so right. Even after months of finishing it and listening , everytime i hit play it keeps impressing me. Everytime i listen to an album it feels like im listening it for the first time , its like rediscovering music.
One special thing...my AVR its a Yamaha one...and i really want to highlight something not much people discuss...Dolby Pro Logic IIx
Out there in the internet there is a huge fan base of Pure Stereo lovers, who would never consider multichanel music.
Well , i think...its one of the best things it could happen to digital music...at first i was skeptical like everybody...but after trying it in my system , with all the speakers positioned according the international standard...i started to believe.
Pro Logic IIx works much better than i would expect , sometimes you think it is "intelligent" , scarily intelligent. Its matrix algorithms are surprising. I listen to DTS , DD , SACD native multichannel mixes , and Pro Logic does an excellent job virtualizing 2ch into 5.1 or 7.1 . Sometimes it does such a great job you could not distinguish its not native. I highly recommend it.

On the picture quality side , again incredibly happy. For all my life i've been disappointed with the picture quality we have been used to...everytime i went to a tv shop and seen the different manufacturers LCD options without proper calibration...flashing its "vivid" or "demo" profile colors.
Now i can really enjoy the picture quality i've been searching my whole life and revision old movie classics
I spend a good amount of time and effort into calibrating the PJ for a natural picture , with correct color reproduction , contrast , black levels , shadow detail.
I think there is a slight room for black levels to improve if i have bought a more expensive PJ like a new Epson 3010 , 5010...but where i live prices are impossible...and when you get to this point upgrade means you pay 2 times more and only get a 25% improvement in performance if you are lucky (when it should be 100%).

JJ , muchas gracias por tus palabras

callas01 im glad you liked the bass traps

Cheers !

You're quite welcome!

Although I'm a little you have one fantastic set up! I'd love to hear a theater in a room set up such as yours, meaning longer than wider. ...never heard a room like that yet. I can only imagine it's pretty sweet!

Im having an issue and i feel a little stupid asking , but i haven't figured out the way of uploading/creating a photo gallery with my HT setup. I've made a post with my HT , but i can't find the section where you submit your gallery.
Cheers !
Click on the Blu-Ray.com Icon in the top left header of the website.

Then on the right hand side you will see My Home Theater link.

Click on that and once you are there you will see another link labeled Upload Images.

Oh and that is one awesome looking HT you have build.

Hello fella !
Well considering all the project stages , it took 2.5 years (Planification + Design + Auditioning the gear + Buying the gear + Construction + Calibration )
First year : Design , choosing gear , buying it
Second year : Construction + Acoustic treatment
Final stage : 3-5 Month of minor tweaking and calibration

It was a long process because we were building this home , so we could not start to work on the HT until it was finished. And it was 38km away from the city downtown...we moved to the rocky mountains , so getting the proper tools or materials was always a difficult and time consuming task. We could only work on it on weekends.

Without all those time delays/compromises , we could have finished it in less than a year i think.

Cheers !
