Default Warner no more promoting HD-DUD

Warner might still be releasing on both formats for a few months, but they are definately no more promoting HD-DUD.. I just received an email from Warner Home Entertainment about The Invasion : "The Invasion - On Blu-ray Hi-Def and DVD 1/29/08!‏"

That is great I want to see the Blu-ray version everytime the DVD version is promoted.

It makes perfect sense. Since the HDDVD version isnt available on the release date (only 3 weeks later) they dont feel the need to advertise it. This will help consumers realise blu is the future.

Also, why promote something that they are going to discontinue. I would love to never see them say the words "HD DVD" again... unless it is followed immediately by "is dead"

I like the clear choice they present consumers with.

A delayed exclusive is still an exclusive for a short time.

May 31st can't get here soon enough for me. To have the red team no longer able to talk about Warner still considering movie back over to their side, what a relief that will be.

A relief will be the day I am watching The Matrix trilogy, Batman Begins and Willy Wonka (the new one) in my Blu-Ray player.

To be fair I think it stated in smaller font size that the HD-DED disc would be available on the date three weeks later. Atleast it did in my e+mail from Warner. You had to look for it to see it so they are really phasing out HD-DVD as many other companies.

This is the story that should be posted all over the internet instead of that FUD story about extending support.

Yup, mine too. They also showed the cover of the HD DUD behind the Blu-ray.

Oh well, at least the heading didn't mention it.

I look forward to seeing the adverts for I Am Legend and The Invasion as I'm sure they will not mention the HD DVD.

"10,000 B.C." will definitely not mention HD DVD when it comes to DVD and high definition exclusively on Blu-ray.

It will be interesting to see if they mention the HD DVD version once it has streeted, as well. Right now it makes sense that they would just announce the BD and DVD versions in a commercial, but I wonder if any ad would announce it later, assuming that an ad for a movie would still be running three weeks after its release (probably not.)

Are you kidding? They'll just start a new petition.

That, and the FUD will reach unprecedented levels. The "incompatibility issues" they BS about between profiles will reach critical mass, and then they'll come up w/ some nonsense we can't even think of (because we're rational).
